Isla Fisher is opening up about a meaningful gift from her husband Sacha Baron Cohen that reminds her of "home."

In a new essay about a recent trip to Scotland for YOU Magazine, shared by the Daily Mail, the actress, 47, wrote about her return to the country "where my ancestral roots are." She also revealed that it marked the first time she visited since her father, Brian Fisher, died in January at age 84.

"Over the past months, I’ve learnt to cope with the sudden and searing waves of grief that were once overwhelming," Fisher wrote. "Now, being here in Scotland makes me feel closer to him. I hear his voice in the accents of the people I meet. I see his stoic determination in theirs."

Later in the piece, Fisher revealed that after her father's death, Cohen, 52, gave her a sentimental gift.

"Sacha bought me a ring so I could hold his memory close every day," she wrote.

"It’s a simple gold band with a delicate Scottish heather. It reminds me of home."

Fisher's new essay, which touched on the work of Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire’s Home-Start community support program, mentioned that her father was the CEO of Western Australia’s Save the Children Fund.

Fisher also wrote that her father's efforts, in part, inspired her to become an ambassador for Save the Children in 2012, and that her family's sense of humor partly inspired her career — and "possibly my choice of husband."

"Perhaps that’s what I miss most about my dad since he left us: wherever I was in my life, he was there for me, and we felt so connected," she wrote.

"It’s no exaggeration to say that I spoke with him every day and those wide-ranging, at times very silly, conversations are what got me through the Covid pandemic in Los Angeles — when the world was in lockdown and human connection was in short supply."

Cohen and Fisher, who have been together more than 20 years, share three children. Last November, Fisher opened up to The Australian Women's Weekly about why she keeps her family life private.

"I get nervous talking about it because I feel like, by not having my relationship in the public domain and not having spoken about how we met or really talked about our marriage publicly, it's remained something private and valuable to me," she said when asked what the secret is to their relationship.

"I don't know if that's the secret. But having a shared ability to find humor in the sharpness of life is always going to bring connection," she added. "And, otherwise, I just think it's nice to keep some things for yourself."

In January, after her father's death, Fisher shared a touching tribute with her Instagram followers alongside an image of her dad, who she called "the greatest father."

"How lucky am I to have had you as my dad. You were hilarious, positive and my best friend," she wrote. "No matter what was going in my life on you always asked me if I was having fun."

"I know this pain is going to get worse as the days between when I last saw you increase and that is very scary. I love you so much. Thank you for being the greatest father. #poppafish"

# poppafish”
