“I’m beyond blessed to have the opportunity to make this statement,” Retton wrote. “I am overwhelmed with all the love and support from the world as I fight. I am forever grateful to you all! I’m with family continuing to slowly recover and staying very positive as I know this recovery is a long and slow process.”

Retton’s daughter, McKenna Kelley, shared that her mother was in the hospital on Oct. 10, noting that she was not insured and any financial aid people could provide through the Spotfund page she posted would be greatly appreciated. Kelley asked for $50,000 and has raised $459,324 as of Monday.
