JoJo Siwa is opening up about living with dyslexia.
JoJo Siwa

On Monday, the Dance Moms alum, 20, shared about what her day-to-day life is like with the learning disorder in the first-ever episode of her new iHeartMedia podcast JoJo Siwa Now.

“Something about me is I’m a little bit dyslexic,” Siwa said as she tried to come up with a fun acronym to talk about her past, present and future selves, but confused the “f” in “future” as a “p” to come up with “triple P.”

"Letters that are similar I get a little confused," she explained. “It’s not bad. I can read, I can write, so it’s nothing that's hard for me to deal with."

However, the TikTok star gave an example of how dyslexia affects how she writes messages.

“Say I'm writing like a handwritten card to somebody and I write ‘Happy birthday,’” Siwa began. “I will either do it all in caps or ‘happy’ would have a capital ‘H’ and then ‘birth’ would have a capital ‘B’ and then ‘day’ in ‘birthday,’ the ‘d’ would also have a capital ‘D.’”

“Because my brain doesn't register which way that ‘d’ or ‘b’ is supposed to go. They just look the same,” she added.

The singer and actress has been open about discussing various aspects of her life on social media. She revealed in June that she found it “easier” to come out as LGBTQ online after finding a supportive community there.

"Just getting social media for me, it actually gave me a safe space when I came out," Siwa told E! News, adding that she "knew that even if everyone around me didn't support me that there was gonna be people online that did."

"And I knew that I was gonna find those people and I was really excited about that,” she continued. “I always told myself it was gonna be easier to come out online than it was in person. And I do believe that's very true."

Siwa also shared at the time that she now feels she has found her rightful place online, telling E! News, “It's been fun to be able to figure out what ways I get to be a part of that. You know what I mean? How I fit into the piece of the puzzle there."
