Stative (or state) verbs describe states (things that don't change easily or quickly, for example, what you believe, think or own) rather than actions (jump, talk or buy). These verbs are not normally used in the continuous form (ing).
Stative verbs can be grouped into these categories (靜態(tài)動(dòng)詞可以分為以下類別):
Verbs of emotion (情感動(dòng)詞):
care feel hate
like loathe love
need prefer want
Verbs of ownership (領(lǐng)屬動(dòng)詞):
own have possess

Some of these stative verbs can be used in the continuous form but their meaning will change. 一些靜態(tài)動(dòng)詞可以用于進(jìn)行式,但它們的意思將改變。比如:
To think:
Do you think so? (Stative - Is that your opinion? Is that the state of your belief?) 靜態(tài)--這是你的看法嗎?你是這樣認(rèn)為的嗎?
He's thinking about his friends in Poland (Dynamic - The action of thinking. His friends are in his thoughts, in his mind right now but he might be thinking of something else soon). 動(dòng)態(tài)—思考的行動(dòng)。他在想他的那些波蘭朋友。他現(xiàn)在正在想他的朋友們,但他不久就會(huì)思考其它的事情。
To have:
He has got brown eyes (Stative - He possesses brown eyes. The colour is unlikely to change). 靜態(tài)--他有棕色的眼睛。這種顏色是不太可能改變的。
He's having a pint of beer (Dynamic - The action of drinking. He might be drinking something else soon). 動(dòng)態(tài)--喝的動(dòng)作。他在喝一品脫啤酒。他可能不久就會(huì)喝點(diǎn)別的什么東西。
To see:
I don't see what you mean. (Stative - I don't understand what you mean). 靜態(tài)--我不明白你的意思。
She is seeing him next week. (Dynamic - She is meeting him). 動(dòng)態(tài)--她將在下周與他見(jiàn)面。她將與他見(jiàn)面。
