  A sad love story

  Li Fang was heart-broken. It was Valentine’s Day and Hu Jin had said she would meet him at the coffee shop after work. But she didn’t turn up. She could be with her friends right now laughing at him. She said she would be there at seven o’clock, and he thought she would keep her word. He had looked forward to meeting her all day, and now he was alone with his roses and chocolates, like a fool. Well, he was not going to hold his breath for her to apologize. He would drown his sadness in coffee.

  It was obvious that the manager of the coffee shop was waiting for Li Fang to leave — he wiped the tables, then sat down and turned on the TV — just what Li Fang needed! A sad Chinese story about lost love.

  The granddaughter of the Goddess of Heaven visited the earth. Her name was Zhinv, the weaving girl. While she was on earth she met the herd boy Niulang and they fell in love. (“just like me and Hu jin,” thought Li Fang.) They got married secretly, and they were very happy. (“we could be like that,” thought Li Fang.) When the Goddess of Heaven knew that her grandmother was married to a human, she became very angry and made the weaving girl return to Heaven. Niulang tried to follow her, but the rivers of stars, the Milky Way, stopped him. Finding that Zhinv was heart-broken, her grandmother finally decided to let the couple cross the Milky Way to meet once a year. Magpies make a bridge of their wings so the couple can cross the river to meet on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. People in China hope that the weather will be fine on that day, because if it is raining, it means that Zhinv is weeping and the couple won’t be able to meet.

  The announcer said, “This is the story of Qiqiao festival. When foreigners hear about the story, they call it a Chinese Valentine’s story. It’s a fine day today, so I hope you can all meet the one you love.”

  As Li Fang set off for home, he thought, “I guess Hu jin doesn’t love me. I’ll just throw these flowers and chocolates away. I don’t want them to remind me of her.” So he did.

  As he sadly passed the tea shop on the corner on his way home, he heard a voice calling him. There was Hu jin waving at him and calling, “Why are you so late? I’ve been waiting for you for a long time! And I have a gift for you!”

  What would he do? He had thrown away her Valentine gifts! She would never forgive him. This would not be a happy Valentine’s Day!

  這是一首關于愛的英文詩,每每讀到它心中便涌現(xiàn)出一股暖流。正是來自于父母,親人,朋友的愛伴我走到了現(xiàn)在,讓我獲得了快樂和成長。愛是人類永恒的話題,因此我選擇NSEC Book3 Unit1 A sad love story 這篇課文作為自己的上課內容。

  一.對教材的認識

  本單元的中心話題是“節(jié)日”,單元各項活動的設計都圍繞著一些中外節(jié)日的主題進行。

  A sad love story 是“語言運用”部分的閱讀課文。雖然結尾留下了懸念,但它是一個完整的故事,講述了一對現(xiàn)代年青人的愛情故事,其中穿插了對中國古代著名的“牛郎和織女”及其由此演變出來的“乞巧節(jié)”的介紹。兩個不同年代的故事由愛情這條主線巧妙地連接起來,使學生讀起來意趣盎然,同時讓他們理解到愛的真諦是相互信任,相互理解。

  原本這是一堂讀寫課,要求學生根據(jù)上面閱讀文章的內容續(xù)寫一個結尾??紤]到課堂時間的有限,我將其設計成一堂讀說課,讓學生續(xù)說故事的結尾,既活躍了課堂氣氛又鍛煉他們的口語表達能力。

  二.教學重點和難點

  教學重點:

  本課閱讀量正常,難易度適中,文中穿插的“乞巧節(jié)”

  的故事為學生所熟悉,因此將重點放在對現(xiàn)代愛情故事的理解上,并指導他們?yōu)檫@個故事續(xù)說一個結尾。

  教學難點:

  1. 如何調動學生的積極性,激發(fā)他們的學習熱情。

  2.如何幫助他們提取信息,分析信息,加強對文章的理解。

  3.如何幫助他們利用文中信息進行英語口語表達。

  三.三維教學目標

  知識目標:

  1. 掌握文章主旨大意,抓住主要細節(jié)信息,把握篇章結構。

  2. 學習新單詞,新短語和理解一些句子。

  能力目標:

  訓練學生的閱讀技巧和口語表達能力。

  情感態(tài)度:

  1.讓學生理解愛的真諦:相互信任,相互理解。

  2.讓學生學會如何積極面對和化解人際關系中存在的矛盾。

  四. 說學情

  1.通過一段時間的學習,高一的學生對新教材有了一定的理解和適應。但他們的自主學習能力不強,對老師存在依賴性。因此,每次上閱讀課之前我都會要求他們進行預習,先通讀課文,找出新單詞和短語以及難以理解的句子,借助于字典和書中的詞匯表以及課文注釋進行預習,為新課做足準備。

  2.他們思想活躍,好奇心強,愿意配合老師進行課堂活動探究。

  五.

  1、高中英語教學要始終貫徹交際性原則,強化學生主體意識。

  “讓游泳者到水中去。”這是交際語言教學理論的思想核心。貫徹交際性原則就是要把教學活化為實際,培養(yǎng)課堂交際氛圍,鼓勵學生多說多練。在練習中,老師要重視運用鼓勵性語言,不斷強化學生參加交際的信心。

  2.興趣激發(fā)法 1)用有趣、難度適中的閱讀材料激發(fā)學生閱讀興趣。

  2) 閱讀前的巧妙提問激發(fā)學生閱讀興趣。

  3.信息整合法 根據(jù)課文實際情況,努力運用如自制課件、網(wǎng)絡等各種媒體手段,將各種

  有用的信息資源整合起來,充分調動學生的學習興趣和主動性,培養(yǎng)學生

  獲取和利用信息的能力。

  六. 說學法

  陶行知先生曾指出“先生的責任不在教,而在教學生如何學”。學法指導在英語教學中非常重要。

  1.培養(yǎng)學生養(yǎng)成課前自學的習慣.高中階段的生詞量逐步加大、課文篇幅也逐步加長,因此自學很重要。它可以使學生掌握學習的主動權,增強聽課效率,否則上新課時就會心中無數(shù)、不得要領。

  2.課堂是實施素質教育的渠道,中學生的英語知識大多從課堂教學中獲得,這就要求學生在課堂上集中注意力,積極參與各種形式的聽、說、讀、寫訓練活動,培養(yǎng)觀察、記憶、思維、想象和創(chuàng)造能力,力爭當堂消化本節(jié)課最重要的內容。

  3.指導學生課后及時復習,反復練習,鞏固已學知識。

  1. Lead-in

  T: Boys and girls, we have learned Festivals around the world.

  Which festival do you like best?

  In this way, I introduce Valentine’s Day to my students.

  2. story-telling

  T: Do we have our own Valentine’s Day in China?

  (Qiqiao Festival)

  When do people celebrate it?

  (On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month)

  There is a traditional love story about Qiqiao Festival.

  First I introduce three characters in the story to my students: The herd boy, The weaving girl and The Goddess of Heaven. Then I’ll ask them to tell the story with me according to five pictures and key words on the computer screen.

  3. Reading

  I designed three scenes according to the modern love story.

  Scene1 (show a picture to the students)

  T: On Qiqiao Festival this year, a young man sat at a coffee shop.

  Was he sad or happy?

  Can you guess what happened to him?

  Now, open your textbooks and turn to page 7.Today we are going to learn a new passage — A sad love story. Please read the first paragraph.

  Task1 Fill in the blanks.

  Li Fang wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend Hu Jin. Hu Jin promised to meet him at the coffee shop. Li Fang waited for her for a long time but Hu Jin didn’t turn up. Li Fang thought that Hu Jin didn’t keep her word and was heart-broken. You see, he had looked forward to meeting her all day, and now he was alone with her Valentine gifts. He didn’t hope to hold his breath for Hu Jin to apologize. He would drown his sadness in coffee.

  Scene2 (show a picture to the students)

  T: How time flies! It was too late. Other customers had gone and only Li Fang sat at the coffee shop. What happened at the coffee shop? Please read from paragraph 2 to paragraph 4.

  Task2 Answer the following questions.

  1) What did the manager of the coffee shop do?

  2) What did they see on the TV?

  3) Why was the TV story what Li Fang needed?

  4) Why do people want the weather to be fine on Qiqiao Festival?

  Task3 Find out the following expressions in paragraph3

  1. 相愛fall in love

  2. 與某人結婚get / be married to sb

  3. 使某人做某事make sb do sth

  4. 盡力做某事try to do sth

  5. 決定做某事decide to do sth

  6. 能夠做某事be able to do sth

  Scene3 (show a picture to the students)

  T: On the romantic festival, a handsome man was alone with his roses and chocolates. Would he meet his lover Hu Jin? Please listen to the tape.

  Task4 True or False

  1. Li Fang threw away roses and chocolates because he didn’t like them. (F)

  2. Li Fang met Hu Jin at the coffee shop on the corner on his way home. (F)

  3. Hu Jin waited for Li Fang without any gift for him. (F)

  4. Li Fang thought that Hu Jin would forgive him. (F)

  4. Acting

  T: At last, Li Fang met Hu Jin on his way home. However, he had thrown away her Valentine gifts. What would he do? The love story stops here.

  What do you think was going to happen to Li Fang and Hu Jin?

  Now please make a dialogue of an ending to the story with your partners or group members in five minutes. Then I’ll choose some groups to perform.
