不看絕對(duì)后悔的英文演講

　　這是奧巴馬剛就任美國總統(tǒng)的2009年為全美學(xué)生做的開學(xué)演講，今天看來依然毫無違和感，且每個(gè)看過的人都說被觸動(dòng)了。你會(huì)是例外嗎?

　　Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.

　　你們每一個(gè)人都有自己擅長的東西。你們每一個(gè)人都有可以貢獻(xiàn)的東西。發(fā)現(xiàn)你擅長的和可以貢獻(xiàn)的東西是你對(duì)自己應(yīng)有的責(zé)任。這正是教育為你提供的機(jī)會(huì)。

　　And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country.

　　然而這不僅僅關(guān)乎你的人生和未來。你從教育中獲得的收獲幾乎決定著這個(gè)國家的未來。

　　Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.

　　你現(xiàn)在的情況并不能決定你未來的成就。沒有人能決定你的命運(yùn)。在我們美國，你的命運(yùn)由你自己來決定。你的未來由你自己去創(chuàng)造。

　　That’s no excuse for not trying.

　　不要為不嘗試找借口。

　　But the truth is, being successful is hard.

　　事實(shí)上，成功很難。

　　But Michael Jordan once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

　　但喬丹曾說過：“我的一生中失敗了一次一次又一次，這才是我成功的原因。”

　　These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you.

　　那些人獲得了成功，因?yàn)樗麄兌茫〔荒芏x你，但失敗可以教育你。

　　No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work.

　　沒有人生來就擅長所有事，擅長是通過努力獲得的。

　　Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something, and to learn something new.

　　別怕問問題。當(dāng)你需要幫助的時(shí)候別怕尋求幫助。尋求幫助不是弱者的表現(xiàn)，反而是強(qiáng)者的表現(xiàn)，因?yàn)檫@說明你有勇氣承認(rèn)自己在某些方面的無知，且你想要學(xué)習(xí)一些新東西。

　　And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.

　　就算你在苦苦掙扎，就算你心灰意冷，就算你覺得其他人都放棄了你，你也不要放棄你自己。因?yàn)槟惴艞壛俗约?，就等于放棄了你的國家?/p>
