二、主語的“數(shù)”決定謂語動詞的形式

1.復(fù)數(shù)

（1）“復(fù)數(shù)名詞”作主語時，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。

The children are taken good care of.孩子們得到很好的照料。

When people speak of American films，they generally think of Hollywood.

當人們講到美國電影時，一般會想到好萊塢。

（2）“復(fù)數(shù)代詞”作主語時，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。

They have gone to Shanghai.他們?nèi)ド虾Ａ恕?/p>

Their houses stand on top of the hill，and ours are at the foot of the hill.

他們的房子在山頂上，我們的在山腳下。

2.單數(shù)

（1）“不可數(shù)名詞、可數(shù)名詞單數(shù)、單數(shù)代詞”作主語時，謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

The work is important.這項工作重要。

A car needs gas to run and your body also needs food to work for you.

汽車需要汽油才能跑，你的身體也需要食物才能工作。

He is popular among the children.他深受孩子的喜愛。

Walt Disney starts it with Micky Mouse.華特·迪士尼從米老鼠開始了這一切。

A soldier was wounded in the battle.戰(zhàn)斗中一個士兵負傷。

（2）不定代詞each，one，much，little，either，neither，another作主語時，謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

Each takes a cup of coffee.每人喝一杯咖啡。

Either is correct.這兩者哪一個都對。

Neither likes this painting.這兩人誰也不喜歡這幅畫。

Little has been done for them.幾乎什么事也沒有為他們做。

Much has been said on the matter.關(guān)于這件事已經(jīng)說了很多了。

4.復(fù)合不定代詞作主語時，謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

Something is wrong with the computer.這臺電腦出毛病了。

Everything is going no well.一切都不順利。

Somebody is waiting for you at the school gate.有人在學(xué)校門口等你。

There was nothing special then.那時沒什么特別情況。

5.“不定式，動名詞，介詞短語”作主語時，謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

To hesitate means failure.猶豫不決就意味著失敗。（不定式）

For him to admit his mistakes is not easy.

要他承認錯誤是不容易的。（帶邏輯主語的不定式）

When to leave has not been decided.什么時候離開還沒有定下來。（不定式短語）

Going shopping on Sunday is one of his habits.周日購物是他的一個習(xí)慣。（動名詞短語）

After the meeting is the time to visit.散會以后才是訪友時間。（介詞短語）
