注意

這些詞是可數(shù)名詞，且單復(fù)數(shù)形式相同，所以可以寫為：

This is a fish.

These are fish.

另外，fish作為魚肉講時是不可數(shù)的。

There is much fish on the plate.

(8)另一些名詞本身即是復(fù)數(shù)形式，不可用作單數(shù)。

eg,people,police,trousers,pants,clothes,scissors

9以s結(jié)尾，仍為單數(shù)的名詞，如：

a. maths，politics，physics等學(xué)科名詞，為不可數(shù)名詞，是單數(shù)。

b. news 是不可數(shù)名詞。

c. the United States，the United Nations 應(yīng)視為單數(shù)。

The United Nations was organized in 1945. 聯(lián)合國是1945年組建起來的。

d. 以復(fù)數(shù)形式出現(xiàn)的書名，劇名，報(bào)紙，雜志名，也可視為單數(shù)。

"The Arabian Nights" is a very interesting story-book.

<<一千零一夜>>是一本非常有趣的故事書。

9另外還有一些名詞，其復(fù)數(shù)形式有時可表示特別意思，如：goods貨物，waters水域，fishes(各種)魚

另外,①當(dāng)一個名詞作定語說明另一個名詞時，這個名詞一般用單數(shù)。

eg.an apple tree,five apple trees,a girl friend,two girl friends,a twin sister

但是，當(dāng)man和woman作定語修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞時，就要用其復(fù)數(shù)形式。

eg.two men teachers,three women doctors

②可用“量詞+of+名詞復(fù)數(shù)”這一結(jié)構(gòu)表示可數(shù)名詞的數(shù)量。

eg.a room Of students,two boxes Of pencils

可修飾名詞的常用詞：

1) 修飾可數(shù)名詞與不可數(shù)名詞：some, any, a lot of, lots of, plenty of

2) 飾可數(shù)名詞的有：many, (a)few, a large (great) number of

3)只修飾不可數(shù)名詞的有：much, (a)little, a great deal of

2.不可數(shù)名詞一般沒有復(fù)數(shù)形式，它的“量”的表示方式如下。

(1)常見的不可數(shù)名詞有：water，rice，fish，meat，等。應(yīng)特別記medicine,news,work,homework,housework,money,chalk,weather,cotton,wood.

(2)表不定數(shù)量時,一般用much,(a)little,a lot of/lots of,some,any等詞修飾。

eg,much money,a little bread

(3)常用a piece of,a cup of等來表示不可數(shù)名詞的量。如要表達(dá)“兩片面包”這樣的意義，bread仍為不可數(shù)名詞，不加s，而piece則可加s。即：twopiecesof bread

a piece of news 一條新聞

a piece of paper 一張紙

a piece of work 一項(xiàng)工作

容器表示

a cup of tea 一杯茶

a glass of water 一杯水

a bottle of orange 一瓶橘汁

a piece of paper 一張紙

a slice of bread 一片面包

如要表示兩杯茶、四張紙這類概念時，在容器后加復(fù)數(shù)，如：

two cups of tea

兩杯茶

four pieces of paper

四張紙

three glasses of water

三杯水
