口語高分秘籍：不得不學(xué)習(xí)的local習(xí)語（1）

　　同咱們大天朝使用的漢語一樣，小時候大家是不是捧著成語詞典，孜孜不倦的學(xué)習(xí)用法呢?

　　那英文中也包含了豐富的成語和習(xí)語，它叫做Idioms.

　　Wiki的解釋是：An idiom is a common word orphrase with a culturally understood meaning that differs from what itscomposite words' denotations would suggest.

　　也就是說習(xí)語是native speaker都理解的詞或詞組，但是它的實際意義卻跟它的字面意義是天差地別的，所以學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)語望文生義是萬萬不可噠~

　　對習(xí)語的了解不僅能夠讓我們在雅思口語考試中好好的給考官秀一把，還幫助我們更深的了解英語國家的文化~ 所以今天就來給各位親愛的烤鴨們科普啦!~

　　一：與時間相關(guān)的習(xí)語.

　　1. Put the clock back

　　[字面意思]：把鐘表指針向后撥。

　　[實際意思]: 指行為或觀念跟不上時代;按陳舊的規(guī)矩辦事;老腦筋。

　　E.g.: You must give university students more freedom. Don’t try to prevent them from falling in love before graduation. You can’t put the clock back!

　　原來這樣簡單的詞句，也能表達如此確切的意思!

　　2. Work against the clock

　　[字面意思]：與鐘表的走動比賽。

　　[實際意思]: 指的是抓緊時間工作，強調(diào)不停頓哦~

　　E.g.: I have to work against the clock to finish my thesis before the holiday finishes. Otherwise my supervisor will not be happy with me.

　　我們辛勤的烤鴨們還可以這樣說哦：I have to work against the clock to pass my IELTS exam. 哈哈，是不是很準(zhǔn)確的表達了烤鴨考前的心情!

　　3. Go like clockwork

　　[字面意思]：像鐘表的機械裝置一樣運轉(zhuǎn)。

　　[實際意思]: 指計劃、安排、工程或項目等進展順利，強調(diào)有條不紊，沒有麻煩。它還有另一種說法：Runlike clockwork.

　　E.g.: The president is very happy that all our arrangements for the project are going like clockwork. And I am sure we can finish the project in time.

　　如果part2的話題考到了future plan,something you saved money for這種和計劃相關(guān)的話題，烤鴨們是可以把go like clockwork運用上去的，表達我們的計劃按部就班，進展的非常順利~

　　4. After hours

　　[字面意思]：鐘點之后。

　　[實際意思]: 在規(guī)定的下班時間以后，非營業(yè)時間。

　　E.g.: Public houses must not stay open after hours, for if they do, they will have to face sanctions imposed by the government.

　　這個詞其實在我們平常的生活中非常常見，比如After hours GP指的是非營業(yè)時間的GP醫(yī)生~

　　5. This minute

　　[字面意思]：這分鐘。

　　[實際意思]: 馬上，立刻，立即。

　　E.g.: What a mess you have made! Your room is like a pigsty! I want you to clean your room this minute!

　　這應(yīng)該是每一個媽媽都會說的話~ 意思是你立刻把你的房間給我收拾干凈~~~ This minute和right now是一個意思哦~
