雅思口語考試中的一些習(xí)慣用語(2)

　　三：與身體相關(guān)的習(xí)語

　　11. An eye for an eye

　　[字面意思]：以眼還眼。

　　[實際意思]報復(fù)，復(fù)仇，懲罰。說明：A tooth for a tooth 的意思是“以牙還牙”。這兩條成語可放在一起用，也可用任何一個，意思一樣。

　　E.g.: She abused him, and he insulted her; an eye for an eye.

　　這個習(xí)語相信大家都是知道的哦~ 因為在我們中文也有對應(yīng)的~就是以牙還牙，以眼還眼~

　　12. Face the music

　　[字面意思]：面對音樂。

　　[實際意思] 面對批評或懲罰;接受由于自己的行為所造成的不良后果。

　　E.g.: You should tell your mother what happened and face the music.

　　小伙伴們千萬不要理解為面對音樂哦~ 這樣是不make sense的噠~ 如果我們犯了錯，就得face the music咯~Orz

　　13. Have one’s head in the clouds

　　[字面意思]：把頭放在云層里。

　　[實際意思] 不實際的;不現(xiàn)實的;想入非非。

　　E.g.: The proposal he made was not feasible; I think he has his head in the clouds.

　　形容不切實際，這個詞組可是絕佳的選擇哦~

　　14. Have one’s heart in one’s mouth

　　[字面意思]：把心放在自己的嘴里。

　　[實際意思] 害怕，緊張。

　　E.g.: I had my heart in my mouth when I checked my IELTS result.

　　有木有!~有木有!~大家在查雅思成績的時候心里是不是都非常緊張呢~ 以后口語考試中用have one’s heart in one’s mouth代替nervous,瞬間感覺高大上了有木有!

　　15. Cost an arm and a leg

　　[字面意思]：花費一條胳膊和一條腿。

　　[實際意思] 價格非常昂貴。變形體：Pay an arm and a leg. 兩條習(xí)語的是一樣的哦~

　　E.g.: These opera tickets cost us an arm and a leg!

　　不要傻傻的再用expensive這么普通的詞了~ Lexical Resource UP UP UP!!!

　　四：與動物相關(guān)的習(xí)語.

　　16. Crocodile tears

　　[字面意思]：鱷魚的眼淚。

　　[實際意思] 假悲哀;不是真心悲哀而流眼淚;貓哭耗子假慈悲。

　　E.g.: She dropped a few crocodile tears over her husband’s death then got his insurance money and married again two weeks later.

　　我們中文里面也有鱷魚的眼淚這種說法哦，形容人假惺惺的掉眼淚~

　　17. Rain cats and dogs

　　[字面意思]：(天上)下狗下貓。

　　[實際意思] 傾盆大雨。說明：英語受北歐文化的影響。在古代北歐神話中，狗象征風(fēng)，貓象征雨。“貓和狗”象征“狂風(fēng)暴雨”。

　　E.g.: It rained cats and dogs yesterday, so we had to cancel the football match.

　　天上當(dāng)然不可能下貓下狗啦~ 當(dāng)然也是不可能下錢的~~~

　　18. Give someone the bird

　　[字面意思]：給某人一只鳥。

　　[實際意思](音同拉長的“不”，像是“bullshit”的省略);給某人喝倒彩。

　　E.g.: When the actress forgot her lines, the audience gave her the bird.

　　給某人一只鳥居然是喝倒彩的意思!~無憂小雅哥剛學(xué)會的時候，也是驚到了~

　　19. Kill two birds with one stone

　　[字面意思]：一塊石頭打中兩只鳥。

　　[實際意思] 一箭雙雕;一舉兩得。

　　E.g.: He killed two birds with one stone by having dinner at his tutor’s place.

　　相信這個習(xí)語童鞋們都已經(jīng)知道啦~ 但是能運用的時候記得要用哦~

　　20. Put on the dog

　　[字面意思]：把狗帶在身上。

　　[實際意思] 炫耀、擺闊。竭力表現(xiàn)自我，好像自己非常重要、非常富有。但實際并非如此。

　　E.g.: They put on the dog in front of their guests, but the guests were not impressed.

　　原來形容別人炫富是這樣說的!~ 以后小伙伴們想吐槽的時候不會詞窮啦。
