　　Dear Julie,

　　How have you been lately? How are your husband and children? It’s been a long time since your last visit to Taiwan; I hope you can come again soon. You seem to be doing very well in America. I sometimes envy you for having the opportunity to emigrate there.

　　I have a favor to ask of you. My daughter Shuhui is going to attend a summer language course at UCLA this summer. She will live in the university dormitory and eat at the school cafeteria. Since everything is arranged, she should be all right, but I’ll feel better if someone I know is available to help her out if she has any problems. If you don’t mind, I would like to give her your address and phone number and have her contact you when she arrives. Then I won’t worry about her as much. I hope it won’t be too much trouble.

　　近來好嗎?你的先生和孩子們還好嗎?距你們上次造訪臺灣已有很長的一段時間了;我真希望你們能很快再來?？磥砟阍诿绹纳钸^得很不錯。有時候我真嫉妒你有這個機會移民到美國。

　　我要請你幫個忙。今年暑假我的女兒淑慧將參與加州大學(xué)洛杉磯分校的暑期語文研習(xí)課程。她將住在大學(xué)宿舍，并在學(xué)校的自助餐廳用餐。因為每件事情都已安排妥當(dāng)，所以她應(yīng)該不會有問題，但我覺得如果有人可以在她遇上任何問題時能抽空幫她忙，我就會較為放心。如果妳不介意的話，我想要把你的住址及電話號碼給她，并且要她一到達(dá)時就與你聯(lián)絡(luò)。這樣我就不會太為她擔(dān)心了。我希望這不會對你造成太大的困擾。
