We have always been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but could we be wrong? An Australian gastric surgeon is now claiming that skipping breakfast is the key to slimming our waistline. Dr Andrew Renaut thinks we should stop eating breakfast altogether.

總有人告訴我們:早餐是三餐中最重要的一餐,但我們是不是錯(cuò)了?一位澳大利亞胃外科醫(yī)生現(xiàn)聲稱:不吃早餐對(duì)于瘦腰至關(guān)重要。Andrew Renaut博士認(rèn)為我們應(yīng)該不吃早餐。

'Breakfast, as far as I'm concerned, is the least important meal of the day and I think is contributing to the problem as far as obesity is concerned,' he told Sunrise. Dr Renaut explained that there are three main factors we need to consider when it comes to our diet and they are how much we eat, what foods we eat and when we eat.

"就我所知,早餐是三餐中最不重要的一餐,而且我覺(jué)得早餐會(huì)導(dǎo)致肥胖,"他對(duì)Sunrise雜志說(shuō)道。Renaut博士解釋道,考慮飲食、吃多少、吃什么以及何時(shí)吃等問(wèn)題時(shí),我們應(yīng)該考慮三個(gè)主要因素。

This is because when we are constantly eating and digesting food our bodies aren't given a chance to have a break. 'We need to address the amount of insulin we're causing the body to produce because that translates to insulin resistance, and that's the underlying problem with obesity,' he said.

這是因?yàn)楫?dāng)我們不斷進(jìn)食、消化食物的時(shí)候,我們的身體根本沒(méi)有時(shí)間休息。"我們需要解決導(dǎo)致身體產(chǎn)生胰島素的量,因?yàn)檫@會(huì)導(dǎo)致胰島素抵抗,而這是肥胖的潛在問(wèn)題,"他說(shuō)道。

With obesity levels at a record high in this country, Dr Renault believes this technique can help stop obesity. Not having breakfast isn't the only step, as there is also only a six-hour window that you're allowed to eat in each day, which is 1 pm to 7 pm.

An added bonus is that you don't need to count calories within that time frame. 'You don't need to restrict anything, with one exception, and that is refined carbohydrates,' Dr Renault explained.

額外福利就是在這個(gè)時(shí)間段不用計(jì)算卡路里量。"你不需要限制任何東西,只有一個(gè)例外,也就是限制精制碳水化合物,"Renault博士解釋道。

'So everything else, fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh fish, nuts, avocados and dairy is absolutely fine. You can eat all that beautiful food and you don't need to restrict the amount. It's very important that you don't calorie restrict.'

"所以其它一切,新鮮的肉、新鮮的蔬菜、新鮮的魚(yú)、堅(jiān)果、牛油果和奶制品都是可以吃的。你可以享受一切美食,而且不用限制食用量。不用限制卡路里是非常重要的。"

For those that are worried that they won't be able to go about their day without having a meal, Dr Renault said your body will adjust. 'What you're doing in the 18 hours that you're not eating is you're allowing your insulin to come back down to zero,' he said.

對(duì)于那些擔(dān)心不吃飯就無(wú)法度過(guò)一整天的人而言,Renault博士說(shuō)道,你的身體會(huì)調(diào)整的。"18個(gè)小時(shí)不吃東西,你的胰島素水平會(huì)回到零,"他說(shuō)道。
