　　紫禁城(the Forbidden City)坐落于北京市中心，又稱故宮，是明清時(shí)期的皇宮。這座矩形宮殿是世界上最大的宮殿群。四周環(huán)繞著六米深的護(hù)城河(moat)和十米高的城墻。四面各有一門。護(hù)城墻四角各有一個(gè)精心建造的獨(dú)特角樓。紫禁城被分成兩部分:南面的部分即外朝(Outer Court),是皇帝行使最髙權(quán)力的地方;而北面的部分即內(nèi)廷(Inner Court),是皇帝和皇室成員生活的地方。今天，紫禁城敞開大門，迎接國(guó)內(nèi)外游客。

Nowaday, the Forbidden City is open to welcome tourists fromhome and abroad.
