英語四級翻譯練習(xí)：校園宅男宅女

如今大學(xué)的生活方式正在發(fā)生著變化。越來越多的學(xué)生課余時間足不出戶，變成了宅男宅女(indoorsman orindoorswoman)。網(wǎng)絡(luò)為學(xué)生打發(fā)課余時間提供了許多選擇。各種校園快捷服務(wù)(On-campus service), 從送餐到洗衣服務(wù)，促進(jìn)了“宅文化”的發(fā)展。一些學(xué)生認(rèn)為戶外運(yùn)動或是社交活動都不如宅在宿舍里玩電腦來得痛快：生活不規(guī)律、缺乏鍛煉已經(jīng)成為大學(xué)生的健康公敵。

Irregular life and lack of physical exercisehave become the health enemy of college students.

1.第1句可譯為 Now college students' lifestyles are changing，但大學(xué)既有 college 也有 university，若把主語轉(zhuǎn)換為colleges and universities，采用“主語(時間、地點(diǎn))+see sth.”的句型來表達(dá)則會更為準(zhǔn)確故本句也可譯作 Now colleges and universities are seeing a change...。

2.第3句中的“為學(xué)生打發(fā)課余時間提供了許多選擇”可套用offer sb. sth(為某人提供某物)結(jié)構(gòu)。“打發(fā)課余時間”可處理成表目的的狀語，譯為to kill the spare time。

3.第4句中的“從送餐到洗衣服務(wù)”是對“校園快捷服務(wù)”的補(bǔ)充說明，可譯為from,food delivery to laundryservices，作插入語。“宅文化”為專有名詞，宅的字面義是“待在家里”，但本文講的是大學(xué)生，故此處應(yīng)指“待 在宿舍里”，故“宅文化”可意譯為the culture of staying in dormitories。“促進(jìn)了‘宅文化’的發(fā)展”既可譯 為have promoted the culture of...;也可譯為 are fuelling the culture of...，簡單生動。fuel在此處取的是比喻義。

4.倒數(shù)第2句中的“不如……來得痛快”是中文特有的表達(dá)，不可直譯，可用be not better than來表達(dá)，或按其字面義譯為 gain more pleasure front... than...。
