　　要點：neither后面用的是倒裝語序(could we)。 which do exist 的先行詞為vacancies，但被of a different type 隔開。exist后面是一個由for(等立連詞)引導(dǎo)的原因狀語從句，用來作附加說明。

　　譯文：我們不能不負(fù)責(zé)任地給你這種職務(wù)，也不愿讓你接受其他工種現(xiàn)有的一兩個空缺，因為這兩個中任何一個都不適合教育程度和能力達(dá)到你這樣高水平的人去做。

　　要點：本句是判斷句的倒裝。Along with引導(dǎo)的介詞短語在句中作表語，為了使句子的結(jié)構(gòu)達(dá)到平衡協(xié)調(diào)，把帶有較長修飾語的主語部分放到句子的后部，以避免頭重腳輕。表語提前，還達(dá)到了強(qiáng)調(diào)表語所表達(dá)的意義的作用。介詞短語along with意為"together with".

　　譯文：美國人在自貶別人對自己稱贊的同時，還有一種傾向，那就是嘲笑自己的錯誤并承認(rèn)自己的弱點。

　　要點：此句的后半部分"as did the ancient Persians, Greeks and Romans"中的連詞"as"引出方式狀語從句。"did"為代動詞，代替主句的"had trained messengers on horseback and runners before 1100 B.C".因為從句主語較長，謂語較短，為了保持句子平衡，將謂語動詞提前。正常語序為" as the ancient Persians, Greeks and Romans did"。

　　譯文：就像古波斯人、希臘人、羅馬人一樣，中國人在公元前1100年就已經(jīng)訓(xùn)練信使騎馬或跑步送信。
