“Yet women are making gains,” says freshman Congresswoman Mimi Walters, “though not enough.” Walters was part of a panel discussing why more women are not in Congress or public life.

Even if women are interested in running for office, they may not have the tools to win an election campaign.

money is a lot of times women will be in the workforce and do what I did, leave their job and stay home with their kids and then they lose that network of people.

And it’s those networks that fund a campaign. While some challenges women face do not have simple solutions, the panelists(專家)say there are things that can be done to get more qualified women to successfully run for office.
