Tsinghua University is one of the most famous universities in China.Located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing——the capitla city of China, Tsinghua University was bulit on the site of "Tsinghua Yuan"，a former royal garden of Qing Dynasty, with on area of 386.34 hectares. Tsinghua University is also one of the state "Project 211" universities. Tsinghua University is a national key comprehensive research-orientated university with science, engineering, literoture,liberal arts, history , philosophy, economics, administration, low, education and medicine.

清華大學(xué)是中國(guó)著名高等學(xué)府，坐落于北京西北郊風(fēng)景秀麗的清華園——清朝的皇室花園，占地達(dá)386.34 公頃。清華大學(xué)是國(guó)家"211工程"建設(shè)的高校，是一所具有理學(xué)、工學(xué)、文學(xué)、藝術(shù)學(xué)、歷史學(xué)、哲學(xué)、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、管理學(xué)、法學(xué)、教育學(xué)和醫(yī)學(xué)等學(xué)科的綜合性、研究型大學(xué)。

Tsinghua University was established in 1911 originally as "Tsinghua Xuetang ," a preparatory school for students who would be sent by the government to study in universities in the United States. The school wos renamed "Tsinghua School" in 1912. The university section was instituted in 1925 and undergraduate students were then enrolled. The name "National Tsinghua University" was adopted in 1928, and in 1929 the Research Institute was set up.

清華大學(xué)的前身是清華學(xué)堂，成立于1911年，當(dāng)初是清政府建立的留美預(yù)備學(xué)校。1912年更名為清華學(xué)校。1925年設(shè)立大學(xué)部，同年開辦研究院(國(guó)學(xué)門) ,1928 年更名為"國(guó)立清華大學(xué)"。

The university currently has over 7100 faculty and staff, with 34 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 31 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 77 special professors of "Cheungkong Scholars program", 5 teaching masters, 94 outstanding youth receiving national scientific fund , over 900 full professors and 1200 associate professors (including 938 doctoral supervisors). Tsinghua University has a total enrolment of 26934 students of all kinds, including 13709 undergraduates, 6467master candidates,4997 doctoral candidates and 1761 foreign students. The university comprises 13 colleges with 54 departments, 0ver 130 institutes (research centers) , 11 state key labs and 4 state engineering research centers. It has 60 specialties for undergraduates, 1 specialty for the second Bachelor's degree, 26 doctorate or master programs in first-level disciplines, 1 single master program in first-level discipline, 17 doctorate or master programs in second-level disciplines, 38 single master program in second-level discipline, 170 specialties for master candidates and 128 specialties for doctoral candidates, 49 state key disciplines and 30 post-doctor research stations.

清華大學(xué)現(xiàn)有教職工7100余人，其中中國(guó)科學(xué)院院士34名、中國(guó)工程院院士31名、長(zhǎng)江特聘教授77人、教學(xué)名師5人、國(guó)家杰出青年科學(xué)基金94人、900余名教授、1200余名副教授(其中博士生導(dǎo)師938名)。清華大學(xué)有26934名各類在校學(xué)生，其中普通本科學(xué)生13709人、碩士生6467人、博士生4997人、1761名留學(xué)生，共有13個(gè)學(xué)院54個(gè)系、130多個(gè)研究所(中心)、11個(gè)國(guó)家重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室、4個(gè)國(guó)家工程研究中心;60個(gè)本科專業(yè)，一個(gè)第二學(xué)士學(xué)位專業(yè)，博士、碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)的一級(jí)學(xué)科26個(gè)，有碩士學(xué)位授予權(quán)的一級(jí)學(xué)科一個(gè)。有博士、碩士學(xué)位授予權(quán)的二級(jí)學(xué)科17個(gè)，有碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)的二級(jí)學(xué)科38個(gè)， 170個(gè)碩士點(diǎn)，128個(gè)博士點(diǎn)， 49個(gè)全國(guó)重點(diǎn)學(xué)科， 30個(gè)博士后流動(dòng)站。

Tsinghua University Library consists of 4 professional libraries, namely library of humanities, library of economy and administration, library of architecture, library of art. It has a collection of more than 4 million books.

清華大學(xué)圖書館由校圖書館及人文、經(jīng)管、法律、建筑和美術(shù)等專業(yè)圖書館組成，館藏總量已經(jīng)達(dá)到400多萬冊(cè)(件)。

To fully implement the "China Education Reform and Development Program" ,Tsinghua University has set new development targets for the next 15 years. Educational quality and effectiveness will be improved and disciplinary structure will be adjusted. Based on our strength in engineering, the university will promote the development of science and management departments. Humanities and social sciences will stress particular areas with high academic standards.

In less than 100 years, Tsinghua University has witnessed and shared the hardships and glories of the nation. Glorious History 歷史變遷

In 1911, Establishment of "Tsinghua Xue Tang", later changed to "Tsinghua School" (preparatory school for students to study in the USA).

1911年建立"清華學(xué)堂"后更名為"清華學(xué)校"(留美預(yù)備學(xué)校)。

In 1925, the university section was instituted and undergraduate students were then enrolled.

1925年設(shè)立大學(xué)部，同年開辦研究院。

In 1928, the name "National Tsinghua University" was adopted with 16 deparments in four schools: Liberal Arts, Law, Sciences, and Engineering.

1928年更名為國(guó)立清華大學(xué)，有文、法、理、工4個(gè)學(xué)院， 16個(gè)系。

In 1937, Tsinghua University moved to Changsha City and merged with Peking University and Nankai University to form "Changsha Temporary University" .

1937年南遷長(zhǎng)沙與北京大學(xué)、南開大學(xué)聯(lián)合組成國(guó)立長(zhǎng)沙臨時(shí)大學(xué)。

In 1938, National Temporary University of Changsha moved to Kunming and was renamed the National Southwestern Associated University.

1938年長(zhǎng)沙臨時(shí)大學(xué)遷到昆明，更名國(guó)立西南聯(lián)合大學(xué)。

In 1946, it returned to original campus - "Qing Hua Yuan" in Beijing, with 26 departments in five schools: Liberal Arts, Law, Sciences" Engineering , and Agriculture and 26 departments.

1946年遷回北京清華園復(fù)校，有文、法、理、工、農(nóng)5個(gè)學(xué)院， 26個(gè)系。

In 1952, anationwide restructuring of institutes of higher education was initiated, and Tsinghua University became a multidisciplinary polytechnic university.

1952年經(jīng)全國(guó)高校院系調(diào)整，成為多科性工業(yè)大學(xué)。

In 1984, the graduate school was formed and it was the first one in universities of the country.

1984年設(shè)立國(guó)內(nèi)高校中第一個(gè)研究生院。

In 1999, Tsinghua established the School of Arts and Design by merging with the Central Academy of Arts and Design.

1999年原中央工藝美術(shù)學(xué)院并人，成為清華大學(xué)美術(shù)學(xué)院。

In 2003, Huaxin Hospital and Yuquan Hospital which had belonged to the Ministry of Information and Industry merged to form the first accessorial hospital and the second accessorial hospital of the university.

2003年原隸屬信息產(chǎn)業(yè)部的華信醫(yī)院(原酒仙橋醫(yī)院)和玉泉醫(yī)院正式并人。
