A: my friend Emily recently lost 18 pounds.
 
我朋友艾米麗最近瘦了20磅.
 
B: oh, really?
 
哦,是嗎?
 
A: the point is that she has been persuading me to lose weight too.
 
問(wèn)題是她一直勸我也減肥.
 
B: well, it's a good thing for you.
 
這是好事啊.
 
A: good? Yes, it's good for her but not for me. You see, she tells me that I'll feel better about myself if I slim down. She keeps giving me newspaper clipping about the latest miracle diet and insists that I join a health club, as she has.
 
好事？是的，這對(duì)她有好處，但對(duì)我沒(méi)有好處。你看，她告訴，如果我減肥，我會(huì)感覺(jué)更好。她不斷給我剪報(bào)，介紹最新的神奇飲食，并堅(jiān)持要我像她一樣加入健身俱樂(lè)部。
 
B:so you don't think you are fat and need to lose weight?
 
那就是說(shuō)你不覺(jué)的自己胖,也沒(méi)必要減肥是吧?
 
A: I just can't bear it that Emily made me feel like a baby who always pigs out on junk food.
 
我只是不能忍受她讓我感覺(jué)自己像一個(gè)亂吃零食的小孩子.
 
B: junk food is not good for your health. Too much of it will make you fat.
 
可是垃圾食品對(duì)你并無(wú)益處啊.吃太多會(huì)讓你變胖的.
 
A:but junk food is so easy. It requires no silverware or plates, no rigid mealtimes, no pleases and thank yous.
 
但垃圾食品是如此簡(jiǎn)單。它不需要銀器或盤(pán)子，不需要嚴(yán)格的用餐時(shí)間，不需要取悅和感謝。
 
B: ok, but junk food has many disadvantages. As junk food contains high amout of iol and fat, you'll feel sleepy, not be able to concentrate when you have a lot of it.
 
沒(méi)錯(cuò),可是垃圾食品也有很多壞處.垃圾食品脂肪含量高,你吃太多機(jī)會(huì)覺(jué)得昏昏欲睡,不能集中注意力.
 
A: yes, but life without chips, ice cream and coca cola is boring.
 
可能吧,但是對(duì)我而言,生活中沒(méi)有了薯?xiàng)l,冰激凌和可口可樂(lè),真是乏味至極.
 
B: let me see. You could exercise more to keep fit.
 
你或許可以多做一些運(yùn)動(dòng)來(lái)健身.
 
A: well, that sounds better than giving it up.
 
嗯,這總比一點(diǎn)都不吃好.
