B: Books on linguistics. Here is the booklist.

A: Let me have a look. Oh, most of the books are published by the Oxford University Press. It deserves to be called the largest Press around the world!

B: Quite right! Many scholarly works are only published by this Press.
 
沒錯！好多學(xué)術(shù)著作都只在這個出版社出版。
 
A: Really? I'm so glad that the Oxford University Press is also welcomed in China! As a British, I’m taking a great deal of pride in it
 
是嗎？真高興看到牛津大學(xué)出版社在中國也這么受歡迎！作為英國人，我為它感到非常驕傲。
 
B: It's not surprising. The Oxford University Press has global fame! Moreover, all students are asked to prepare the Oxford English Dictionary at the beginning of our English learning. It can be considered as the authority on the English language.
 
這一點(diǎn)也不奇怪。牛津大學(xué)出版社可是享譽(yù)全球?。《?，我們在初學(xué)英語的時候，老師就要求每人都要準(zhǔn)備一本《牛津英語詞典》，這可以說是英語方面的權(quán)威詞典了。
 
A: What is the Oxford English Dictionary! It seems a bit complicated for a learner in the first stage. The second edition printed in 1989 contains even 20 volumes.
 
為什么是《牛津英語詞典》呢？對于一個初學(xué)者來說，它似乎有點(diǎn)復(fù)雜。1989年出版的第二版就有20冊呢！
 
B: Oh, it’s my mistake. Actually, I mean the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, which is a dictionary based on the Oxford English Dictionary.
 
噢，是我疏忽了。實(shí)際上，我指的是《牛津簡明英語詞典》，它是以《牛津英語詞典》為基礎(chǔ)改編而成的。
 
A: I see. After publishing of Oxford English Dictionary, the Oxford University Press has come out a series of English reference books on its basis in succession. For instance, Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, New Oxford Dictionary of English, Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, New Oxford American Dictionary, as well as Oxford Dictionary Of English Etymology.

B: Marvelous! Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary is the most popular in China. It was brought in by the Commercial Press, and was annotated^ in English and Chinese. It is especially suitable for English learners who Being appropriate for learners with different ages and stages, the Commercial Press also published editions of middle stage and first stage.
 
真了不起！《牛津高階學(xué)習(xí)詞典》在中國最為流行，由商務(wù)印書館引進(jìn)，并有英漢雙解注釋。它特別適含母語非英語的英語學(xué)習(xí)者使用。為了能夠適用于不同年齡層和學(xué)習(xí)階段的學(xué)習(xí)者，商務(wù)印書館還出版了中階版和初階版。
 
A: Really? I never thought it exercised such a great influence in China.
 
真的嗎？真沒想到它在中國這么有影響力。
 
B: Certainly! The Oxford English Dictionary is supposed to be the most influential⑤ publication by the Oxford University Press.
 
當(dāng)然啦！《牛津英語詞典》應(yīng)該是牛津大學(xué)出版社最具影響力的出版物了。
 
A: Well. Have you ever used the electronic edition of it?
 
嗯。那你使用過它的電子版嗎？
 
B: Never. It’s too expensive, about 200 pounds per year, more than 2,000 Yuan.
 
沒有。電子版太貴了，每年大概要200英鎊，也就是2000元多人民幣。
 
A: Er.. a little bit expensive.
