大學(xué)的課程有很多，到底該怎么選課

A: Morning, Jennifer. You look rather pretty on this pink dress.
 
早上好，珍妮弗。你穿這件粉色的連衣裙可真漂亮?。?br />  
B: Thank you. Yesterday was my birthday and mom gave it to me as a gift.
 
謝謝。昨天是我的生日，這是媽媽送給我的生日禮物。
 
A: Though maybe it is a bit late, but still “Happy Birthday”.
 
那我就送上一句遲到的祝福吧，祝你生日快樂！
 
B: Thank you anyway. By the way, how do you handle the course selection? Ah! I’m still confused about it and can not decide which to take.
 
還是謝謝你啦。對了，你打算怎么選課??？哎！我現(xiàn)在還是感覺很困惑，不知道到底該選哪些課。
 
A: I have been planning since last term but still not quite decided. On one hand, there are so many courses which are practical for later career. On the other hand, several distinguished professors will give lectures this term. However, our time and energy is limited, so it is really painful to make a final decision.
 
從上學(xué)期開始我就在盤算到底該選什么課，這不到現(xiàn)在也還沒能定下來嘛。一方面，很多課程很實(shí)用，會(huì)對我們以后的工作有所幫助；另一方面，有些資深教授這學(xué)期也會(huì)開課，我也不想錯(cuò)過。但是我們的時(shí)間和精力畢竟有限啊，所以要最終做個(gè)取舍還真是難??！
 
B: Yeah. We can not have our cake and eat it. What you said just now reminds me that I have to take future career into consideration as well. I have never thought of that before. Then why not take two practical classes and another two given by our great professors?
 
是啊。魚和熊掌不可兼得啊！你倒是提醒了我，我也要把將來的職業(yè)規(guī)劃考慮進(jìn)去，以前我都從來沒想過這個(gè)事呢。旣然這樣的話，為什么不選兩門實(shí)用性課程再選兩門大教授開的課呢？
 
A: Sounds good. As for me, I think I will take Chinese and applied mathematics as the practical classes and at the same time follow the lectures in anthropology and cognitive science given by our famous professors.
 
這個(gè)主意聽起來不錯(cuò)。對我來說，我覺得實(shí)用性課程我就選漢語和應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)了。至于大教授開的課我想上人類學(xué)和認(rèn)知科學(xué)。
 
B: Chinese? I was considering taking this course too. But those who had taken it said it is rather hard for us whose native language is of the Indo-European language family.
 
漢語？我也一直想選這門課呢！但是選修過這門課的同學(xué)都說對于我們這些母語屬于印歐語系的人來說，漢語實(shí)在太難學(xué)了。
 
A: Anyway I'm charmed by the Chinese language and culture and I think speaking Chinese will bring much convenience when we hunt for a job. So I would like to take the challenge.
 
不管怎樣，我深深著迷于中國的語言和文化，而且要是會(huì)說漢語的話，對我們以后找工作也會(huì)有好處的。所以我想挑戰(zhàn)一下自己。
 
B: Uh, I think it deserves your hard-work. And I want to have a try too. Then when we can speak some Chinese, we can travel to China together.
 
嗯，我覺得值得一試。我也想學(xué)學(xué)看。等我們都會(huì)說一些漢語的時(shí)候，我們還可以一起去中國旅游呢！
 
A: Good idea. Such profound history and beautiful scenery in China can be our motivation. What about you? Have you decided?
 
好主意。中國悠久的歷史和優(yōu)美的風(fēng)景也會(huì)成為我們學(xué)習(xí)漢語的動(dòng)力的。你打算選什么課啊？現(xiàn)在決定了嗎？
 
B: Besides Chinese，I would like to take African studies, economics and literature. You know that Africa is undeveloped and there are so many poor people who need urgent help. When I have a basic knowledge of Africa, I can explain to the public and call on them to do something within their power.
 
除了漢語外，我想選修非洲研究、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)還有文獻(xiàn)學(xué)。你知道的，非洲是個(gè)欠發(fā)達(dá)地區(qū)，那有那么多亟待幫肋的窮人。了解了非洲的基本情況后，我就能向大家介紹非洲，號(hào)召大家為非洲提供一些力所能及的幫助了。
 
A: You are so kind-hearted. And I think after class you can surf the internet to find more information and pictures on Africa if you like. Still there are three courses which I have a great passion) for. It’s a pity that I have to give them up.
 
你真好！我覺得如果你愿意的話，課下你可以上網(wǎng)捜索更多有關(guān)非洲的消息和圖片。對了，還有三門課我非常感興趣，但是真可惜我不得不放棄了。
 
B: Don’t worry! I suggest you borrow the suggested readings and notes from our classmates who choose to follow such classes and read them by yourself. And when you have trouble in understanding, you can ask them for help.
 
別擔(dān)心。你可以借閱我們班選修這些課程的同學(xué)的課后閱讀材料和筆記來自學(xué)?。《耶?dāng)你有看不懂的地方的時(shí)候，還可以向他們請教呢。
 
A: Good idea. By way of doing so, twice can be accomplished with half the effort. You are such a smart girl. Thank you very much.
