你和你的男朋友在一起多久了？為什么不打算結(jié)婚

B: Almost a year now.

到現(xiàn)在快一年了。

A: Do you think you will marry?

你會(huì)結(jié)婚嗎？

B: Marry? No, I don't think about it. Anyway, I don't think I'd want to marry Steve.

結(jié)婚？我沒(méi)想過(guò)，反正我沒(méi)想過(guò)會(huì)嫁給史提夫。

A: Really? Then why are you going out with him for so long?

真的啊？那為什么你會(huì)跟他在一起這么久？

B: Why not?

為何不呢？

A: You are together so long, and you even live together now.I'm surprised you don't think of getting married.

但是你們?cè)谝黄鹉敲淳?，現(xiàn)在甚至住在一起。我很吃驚你沒(méi)考慮要結(jié)婚。

B: I don't really want to get married.

我不是很想結(jié)婚。

A: Not at all?

一點(diǎn)都不想嗎？

B: Well, maybe later. When I'm thirty-something. But now I'm too young.

或許晚一點(diǎn)，三十幾歲吧?，F(xiàn)在還太年輕。

A: Does it bother your parents?

這會(huì)讓你父母困擾嗎？

B: What?

什么？

A: That you don't want to get married. Don't they pressure you?

你不想結(jié)婚這件事。他們不會(huì)給你壓力嗎？

B: No, not at all. Why should they pressure me?

一點(diǎn)都不會(huì)。為什么要給我壓力？

A: Usually parents want their daughter to find a good guy.My parents, for instance, they would be angry if I lived with a guy.

通常父母要女兒找個(gè)好男人。就拿我父母來(lái)說(shuō)，如果我和男生同居，他們一定會(huì)生氣。

B: Yes, I understand. I've heard that before about Chinese culture.But in America most parents let their children manage their own love life.And me, I wouldn't tolerate my parents telling me what to do. I'm an adult.

我了解，我以前聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)中國(guó)人的文化。但是在美國(guó)，大部份的父母讓孩子決定自己的感情生活。我不能忍受父母告訴我要怎么做，我是個(gè)成年人。

A: You are very independent.

你很獨(dú)立。

B: Why shouldn't I be? Who I go out with is my business, not my father's.If he doesn't like someone I like, then he will tell me.But if I go out with the guy or not, that's my choice.Do you want to marry someone your parents choose for you?

為什么不呢？和誰(shuí)在一起是我的事，不是我父親的。如果他不喜歡誰(shuí)，他會(huì)告訴我。但是我要不要和誰(shuí)在一起，那是我的選擇。你要嫁給父母幫你挑選的人嗎？

A: My parents want me to marry a doctor or a lawyer.They are happy I got into such a good school.

我父母要我嫁給醫(yī)生或律師。他們很高興我念這么好的學(xué)校。

B: See what I mean? Maybe the guy you fall in love with isn't a doctor.Then what? Are you going to choose someone just to please your parents?

看我說(shuō)的吧？也許你愛(ài)上的不是醫(yī)生。然后呢？你會(huì)找一個(gè)人只為了讓你父母高興嗎？

A: No, I wouldn't. It's true my generation is more independent now.But still we listen to our parents' opinions.

我不會(huì)。沒(méi)錯(cuò)，現(xiàn)在我這一代是比較獨(dú)立。但是我們?nèi)匀宦?tīng)父母的意見(jiàn)。

B: I think it's good to listen. But I don't think it's good to obey.

You shouldn't obey if your heart says something else.

聽(tīng)意見(jiàn)是好的，但是順從不一定好。如果你心里有別的想法，你就不應(yīng)該順從。
