A: Hey, er, Mark, could you tell me about the first job you ever had?
 
嘿，馬克，你能和我講講你的第一份工作嗎？
 
B: I think it was when I was at university, well my first long term part time job was when I was at university and one night a week I used to work for 12 hours from 6 pm til 6am in a printing factory and we were actually making television guides to be distributed throughout the whole country.
 
我想那時我還在上大學(xué)，我的第一份長期兼職工作是在大學(xué)期間，當(dāng)時我每周有一個晚上去一家印刷廠工作，時間是從晚上六點(diǎn)到第二天早上六點(diǎn)共12個小時，工作內(nèi)容是確保電視指南分發(fā)到全國各地。
 
A: So you worked from 6am, I mean 6pm til 6am?
 
所以你從早上六點(diǎn)，我的意思是你從晚上六點(diǎn)一直工作到早上六點(diǎn)？
 
B: Yep, overnight. I felt that it was probably better to work just one long block of time than rather have a part time job 2 or 3 nights a week. So I kept that up for 2,2 and a half years until my final year of university. Then I decided that study on Friday was more important than the part time job, but for 2 and a half years I really enjoyed it.
 
對，一整晚的時間。我認(rèn)為一個晚上的長時間工作要比每周工作兩三個晚上的兼職要多。所以這份工作我做了兩年半的時間，直到我大學(xué)最后一年。之后我決定周五學(xué)習(xí)要比兼職重要，但是這兩年半的時間我很享受。
 
A: So for this job what exactly did you do? What were your duties?
 
那份工作你具體都做些什么呢？你的職責(zé)是什么？
 
B: We used to take the TV guides from the printing presses and bundle them up and get them ready for distribution to the various convenience stores and gas stands and bookstores throughout the whole country and then make sure that each or the shops and regions got the right number of guides.
 
我們要把電視指南送到印刷廠去印刷，然后把那些指南捆起來，為分發(fā)到全國的各個便利店、加油站和書店做好準(zhǔn)備，之后要確保所有地區(qū)的商店都拿到正確數(shù)量的指南。
 
A: So a job like that would be manual labour, versus say a customer service job where you are always talking with people. Which type of job do you think is more enjoyable for a young person?
 
那這類工作屬于體力勞動，而不是那種要一直和人們說話的客戶服務(wù)類工作。你認(rèn)為哪種工作對年輕人來說更有樂趣？
 
B: Because of the hours we worked, it was all overnight, there was a combination of other university students and also quite a few housewives who were doing it for extra income, so we actually had quite a good team. There were probably 10 to15 of us. We used to enjoy a good laugh while we were doing it as well.
 
因?yàn)槲业墓ぷ饕ぷ饕徽恚€有其他大學(xué)的學(xué)生一起做那份工作，而且為了賺外快而做那類工作的家庭主婦很少，所以我們組成的團(tuán)隊(duì)非常不錯。當(dāng)時大概有10到15個人一起做那份工作。我們在工作的時候非常享受。
 
A: Sounds fun!

B: It was tiring, especially lectures on Friday mornings but we used to stay awake. I don't think I ever slept in the lecture afterwards.
 
實(shí)際上工作很累，尤其是周五上午有講座，不過我們一直保持清醒。我認(rèn)為我在工作結(jié)束之后的課上從來沒有睡過覺。
