A: Adrienne, you said you mother lives in Hong Kong.
 
埃德里安娜，你說過你媽媽生活在香港。
 
B: That's right.
 
沒錯。
 
A: Wow. Why is she in Hong Kong?
 
哇。她為什么在香港生活。
 
B: She's there for work actually.
 
她在香港工作。
 
A: Oh, yeah. What does she do?
 
哦，好。她從事什么工作？
 
B: It's difficult to explain because I don't really understand it myself but she works for a corporation in the States and she's on assignment in Hong Kong.
 
這很難解釋，因為我自己也不太清楚，我知道她在一家美國公司工作，后來被委派去香港工作。
 
A: So what does your mother think of Hong Kong so far?
 
你母親認為香港怎么樣？
 
B: Oh, she loves it. Of course, she misses being home with her family, with all of us, but it's quite an adventure of course to live overseas and she has a great apartment and a view of the harbor and she's really enjoying doing a lot of traveling and stuff so she's having a good time.
 
哦，她非常喜歡香港。當然，她很想家人，很想念我們，不過在海外生活是種有意思的體驗，她有一間能看到港口的大公寓，她非常喜歡旅行，所以她過得很開心。
 
A: So have you actually been out to Hong Kong to see her?

B: Of course. Many times.

A: So what was it like when you were in Hong Kong?
 
你在香港時感覺怎么樣？
 
B: It's hot and humid like a lot of places in Asia especially in the summer. But it's very hot, very humid but a beautiful city. It's like I said, a harbor city, so there's water everywhere, and I think actually the name Hong Kong, maybe someone will correct me about this, but I think it means like fragrant harbor, or good harbor, something like that, so it's an interesting name, but it is, it's just all water. It's beautiful.
 
香港的夏天和大部分亞洲國家的夏天一樣，又熱又潮濕。雖然香港又熱又潮濕，不過那里是個美麗的城市。我之前說過，香港是港口城市，所以雨水非常多，也許有人會糾正我，不過我認為香港這個名字的意思就是“芳香的港灣”或是“良港”，這個名字非常有意思，香港經(jīng)常下雨，不過很漂亮。
 
A: What things did you really enjoy about Hong Kong?
 
你最喜歡香港的什么地方？
 
B: The shopping of course. Hong Kong has great shopping. There's Stanley Market.
 
當然是購物。香港是購物天堂。香港有個赤柱市集。
 
A: Stanley Market? What's that?
 
赤柱市集，那是什么？
 
B: It's just a market area. It's on the other side of the island from downtown and it's well-know for having lots of souvenirs, but lots of things like purses and scarves and shoes and clothes and everything, and very reasonably priced.
 
是個市場。就在島區(qū)的另一邊，赤柱市集因有大量的紀念品出售而聞名，不過那里也賣錢包、圍巾、鞋、衣服等其它東西，而且價格合理。
 
A: So when you went to Stanley Market, did you buy anything?
 
你去赤柱市集的時候有買東西嗎？
 
B: Of course. I bought lots of purses and shoes and accessories. All of the fun stuff.
 
當然買了。我買了許多錢包、鞋和飾品。都是有趣的物件。
 
A: Multiple? You bought more than one purse?
 
許多？你不只買了一個錢包？
 
B: Oh, yes, of course.
 
對，當然了。
 
A: Why would you buy more than one purse?
 
你為什么要買那么多錢包？
 
B: A couple reasons. One, it was very cheap. Two, it was.... I was planing ahead for Christmas.
 
有幾個原因。首先，那里的價格非常便宜；第二，當時我在為圣誕節(jié)做準備。
 
A: So, in Hong Kong, when you buy something, is it standard to haggle about the price, or is it pretty standard... do you pay the price that's written?
 
在香港購物，你是可以討價還價，還是不能還價，要按照標價支付？
 
B: Um, at the regular shops, you know, any kind of standard mall or boutique, that kind of place, of course the prices are set, but if you go to the market you can usually get a bargain.
 
嗯，在一般的商店里，比如大型購物中心和精品店，不能砍價，不過在市場里買東西通常都能還價，能買到便宜貨。
