A: So Mark, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
 
馬克，如果你不介意，我想問(wèn)一下你今年多大年紀(jì)？
 
B: I'm 31.
 
我今年31歲。
 
A: 31. OK, and so you probably don't remember but like... I'm 37 and I remember watching television with no remote control. Like just the big square box you have to go up and turn.
 
31歲。那你可能不記得……我今年37歲，我還記得電視沒(méi)有遙控器的那個(gè)時(shí)候。那時(shí)的電視像一個(gè)大方盒子，要走到電視那里去換臺(tái)。
 
B: Yeah, I remember that.

A: Was it the same when you were a kid?

B: That's right. I think I actually had a TV like that up until about ten years ago when I was at a university student.

A: Really.

B: Yeah, you just pressed on the button.

A: You know actually, the remote control is so much more convenient but I actually miss having to turn the knob because you don't have so many choices. You know. Like, you pick a channel and you stick with it and then you watch it, but with the remote control you just want to flick, flick, flick.
 
現(xiàn)在有遙控器方便了很多，不過(guò)我很想念轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)旋鈕的那個(gè)時(shí)候，因?yàn)楫?dāng)時(shí)沒(méi)有那么多選擇。選定一個(gè)頻道，你就會(huì)一直看那個(gè)臺(tái)，可是有遙控器的話，你就會(huì)一直換臺(tái)，不停換臺(tái)。
 
B: Yeah, I call it flick-a-vision. Yeah. I quite like flick-a-vision.
 
對(duì)，我稱(chēng)之為快速換畫(huà)面。對(duì)，我經(jīng)常快速換畫(huà)面。
 
A: So what's flick-a-vision?
 
什么是快速換畫(huà)面？
 
B: Well, just when you watch each channel for maybe a minute or two and then change, change, change, change. Yeah, I often do that. Like you say you don't focus on the whole program.
 
就是一個(gè)頻道只看一兩分鐘然后就換臺(tái)，不停換臺(tái)。我經(jīng)常這么做。就像你說(shuō)的，你不會(huì)看完整個(gè)節(jié)目。
 
A: Right. And it's terrible when you're sitting with somebody else and they have the remote control and they keep flicking away.

B: Right, that causes a lot of family fights in my house. Yeah.

A: Well, actually, you are a newly married man, so do you have any remote control wars with your wife?

B: Recently no. Not at the moment because I am living in a very small house with a small room. It's quite easy to get up and turn over the TV without using the remote. But we're not fighting at the moment but I can see in the future we will be so the key there is probably to have two rooms with two TVs.
 
最近沒(méi)有。目前沒(méi)有是因?yàn)槲疑钤谝粋€(gè)房間非常小的小房子里。不用遙控器也可以很方便地走到電視機(jī)那里去換臺(tái)。雖然我們目前并沒(méi)有因?yàn)檫@件事?tīng)?zhēng)執(zhí)，不過(guò)我想以后我們可能會(huì)有爭(zhēng)執(zhí)，所以可以通過(guò)把兩臺(tái)電視放在兩個(gè)房間里來(lái)解決這個(gè)問(wèn)題。
