A: So Heidi, you are from Mongolia. Could you talk a little bit about what high school is like in Mongolia?
 
海蒂，你來自蒙古。你能說說蒙古高中的情況嗎？
 
B: Oh sure. In Mongolia, we don't have elementary school, secondary school, or high school divided into three parts, but we have from 1st grade until 12th grade in one school so we don't really call them like high school or secondary school or elementary school. And for the high school, like, from the 8th grade until 12th grade, well, they study what other students study in different countries but nowadays they are focusing on more, like, English studies or different language studies.
 
可以。蒙古的學(xué)校沒有小學(xué)、初中和高中之分，我們是一個(gè)學(xué)校里有1年級(jí)到12年級(jí)，我們不會(huì)稱之為高中、初中或小學(xué)。一般8年級(jí)到12年級(jí)，相當(dāng)于高中，學(xué)習(xí)其他國(guó)家在高中學(xué)習(xí)的知識(shí)，現(xiàn)在高中學(xué)習(xí)更注重英語和其他語言的學(xué)習(xí)。
 
A: How long is a typical class? Do you have, let's say, six classes a day, each class is one hour?
 
一般一節(jié)課多長(zhǎng)時(shí)間？每天上六節(jié)課，一節(jié)課一小時(shí)？
 
B: We start school at 8:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the (after)noon and we have about six classes a day. Each class has like 45 minutes. So we finish at 1:00.
 
我們?cè)缟?點(diǎn)開始上課，上到下午1點(diǎn)，一天上六節(jié)課。每節(jié)課45分鐘。下午1點(diǎn)放學(xué)。
 
A: And then, what do you do in the afternoon?

B: We go back.

A: You go home?

B: Yes, 'cause in Mongolia we have two parts. In the morning, the high school students go to the school and from 1:30 the elementary school students go to the school so we share one class [between] two classes.
 
對(duì)，因?yàn)槊晒派蠈W(xué)分兩個(gè)部分。早上是高中學(xué)生上學(xué)，小學(xué)學(xué)生從下午1點(diǎn)半開始上學(xué)，學(xué)生共用一個(gè)教室。
 
A: Oh, so you split the school?
 
哦，學(xué)校分成兩個(gè)部分？
 
B: Yes.

A: So do teachers sometimes have to teach both levels?
 
那老師要兩個(gè)級(jí)別都教嗎？
 
B: Yes.
 
對(duì)。
 
A: Wow! That's tough.

B: Yeah.
 
對(duì)。
 
A: So when you go home, do you usually...do have family there waiting or do usually both parents work?
 
那你回家時(shí)，是有家長(zhǎng)在家里等你，還是父母都要上班？
 
B: In Mongolia, the mother and father they usually work and when I finish my school I just go back and make my own food, because in Mongolia mothers' work is not to, like, stay at home or do housework. Kids are taught to clean up the home and cook their food and wash their clothes and that's your work and usually the mothers don't do that kind of thing.
 
在蒙古，父母都要上班，所以我放學(xué)回家以后，要自己做飯吃，因?yàn)槊晒诺哪赣H不是全職媽媽，不是只待在家里做家務(wù)。孩子們要學(xué)會(huì)整理房間，自己做飯，自己洗衣服，這是孩子們要做的事，通常媽媽們不會(huì)做這些。
 
A: Oh, so the children have to do all that work?
 
哦，那孩子要做這些事？
 
B: Yes.

A: Actually it's quite similar I think in the US pretty much. So what about your study load? Do you have a really heavy study load? Like, do you have two hours of homework a night or...?
 
我認(rèn)為這和美國(guó)的情況很相似。那你們的學(xué)習(xí)負(fù)擔(dān)呢？你們的學(xué)習(xí)負(fù)擔(dān)重嗎？每天晚上要做兩個(gè)小時(shí)作業(yè)之類的？
 
B: It really depends on the school but for me, like, I was studying in an international school so I had to study quite hard to get the level still. So for me, I studied after school...I'd rather study at night, so I studied like 3 or 4 hours at night. So that's my study habit.
 
這要看學(xué)校的情況，我在國(guó)際學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)，所以要非常努力學(xué)習(xí)達(dá)到要求。所以我放學(xué)后通常會(huì)在晚上學(xué)習(xí)，我每天晚上會(huì)學(xué)習(xí)三四個(gè)小時(shí)。那是我的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣。
 
A: That's a lot.
 
學(xué)習(xí)時(shí)間很長(zhǎng)。
 
B: Not really compared to other students.
 
和其他學(xué)生比起來不算長(zhǎng)。
