A: Hey, Rachel, so do you read the newspaper these days?
 
嗨，蕾切爾，你最近看報(bào)紙了嗎？
 
B: Actually, no. I used to get a newspaper delivered and I didn't read it at all, so I cancelled it cause I was worried about wasting trees, and wasting paper and therefore trees.
 
沒有。我以前有訂報(bào)紙，但是我完全沒有看，因?yàn)槲覔?dān)心浪費(fèi)樹木、浪費(fèi)紙，所以我取消了訂閱。
 
A: Right, right. Yeah, me neither. I don't get any of my news from Newspapers themselves.
 
好，好的。我也是。我現(xiàn)在也不會(huì)從報(bào)紙上獲取新聞了。
 
B: So how do you find out what's going on?
 
那你怎么了解發(fā)生了什么事呢？
 
A: Most times I just look on the Internet, and I've got, you know ... my first page that pops up lists about six or seven headlines, and actually I find myself clicking on them quite a bit. You know, you see one sentence is enough to draw me in, and then I end up reading online my news.
 
大部分時(shí)間我會(huì)在網(wǎng)上瀏覽新聞 ，首頁會(huì)彈出六七條頭條新聞標(biāo)題，我發(fā)現(xiàn)我經(jīng)常會(huì)點(diǎn)擊這些標(biāo)題去查看詳細(xì)新聞。一句話就足以吸引我了，然后我就在網(wǎng)上瀏覽新聞 。
 
B: Yeah, yeah, me too. But I'm a bit worried about it because I always like, when you can choose news, which news article to read you tend to just choose the light entertainment article or maybe not the really serious news as much as you would if was on the front page.
 
對，我也是。不過我對此有些擔(dān)心，因?yàn)槲野l(fā)現(xiàn)，在可以選擇閱讀哪些新聞時(shí)，你通常會(huì)選擇頭版新聞中娛樂性不強(qiáng)的文章，或者不太嚴(yán)肅的新聞。
 
A: Right, right. And I wonder where those headlines, like, who chooses what appears? So I worry about that too. But I wonder in the future if they'll even be newspapers anymore.
 
對，對。我想知道這些新聞是誰挑選出來放在頭版的？我也擔(dān)心這點(diǎn)。我想知道未來報(bào)紙還會(huì)不會(huì)存在。
 
B: I heard that they are actually really struggling to make money and even the most famous newspapers are starting to go bankrupt.

A: Really?
 
真的嗎？
 
B: Yeah.

A: And what ...? Do you think those companies will make a shift to being completely online then at some point?
 
那……你認(rèn)為這些公司會(huì)在某個(gè)時(shí)間點(diǎn)完全轉(zhuǎn)向網(wǎng)絡(luò)新聞嗎？
 
B: Yeah, I think they would have to. Yeah, yeah. Which is a shame because I mean cause I like the idea of the newspaper.

A: Right, right.

B: Do you think books will disappear though?
 
你認(rèn)為書籍也會(huì)消失嗎？
 
A: That I don't know. I mean I think a lot of people ... like you were maybe saying, but like the feel of a book and like and I think people reading on a screen. I've never been able to read a book online. Me neither. I've always only read through something I can hold and take with me anywhere. But these days with the little handheld units! Have you ever tried to read online? Like read an actual novel?
 
這個(gè)我不知道。我想許多人，包括你在內(nèi)都曾這樣說過，不過我喜歡讀書的感覺，現(xiàn)在人們都在屏幕上閱讀。我一直不能在線閱讀。我看書的話，必須要看拿在手里且可以隨身攜帶的實(shí)體書。不過最近出了很多掌上設(shè)備。你有試過在線閱讀嗎？比較在線閱讀小說之類的？
 
B: No, I just don't like the idea of it. I don't think my eyes could take that sort of electronic screen for like 300 pages, so no.
 
沒有，我不喜歡在線閱讀。我想我的眼睛不能在電子屏上看300頁，所以我沒試過。
