A: So Sarah, you're an English teacher, right?
薩拉，你是名英語老師，對吧？
B: That's right.
沒錯。
A: You must have taught in many countries before.
你之前一定在很多國家和地區(qū)教過英語。
B: Yeah, I did. I taught in the USA, in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan and Ecuador.
對，沒錯。我在美國、臺灣、中國、韓國、日本和厄瓜多爾教過英語。
A: Oh, Ecuador.
哦，厄瓜多爾。
B: Yeah.
對。
A: So you must be able to speak Spanish very well.
那你一定也會說西班牙語。
B: I think so. I studied really hard, and then when I lived in Ecuador, I spent a lot of time talking to people.
是的。我在厄瓜多爾時非常努力地學習了西班牙語，我花很多時間和當地人交談。
A: Did you teach Spanish, too?
那你也教西班牙語？
B: No, I didn't. When I lived in Ecuador actually, I volunteered for the United Nations.

A: Wow.

B: And I taught families and they were being relocated to Canada because they were fleeing the drug wars of Colombia.

A: Wow.
哇哦。
B: So I felt very badly for these families but they had a really bright future. So that was good. But then one week, I had a family, a couple of families and they were being relocated to Sweden.

A: Oh.

B: And I said, "I can't teach them Swedish." And the UN said, "Well, maybe just teach them English." So I thought, they're going to Sweden, they don't need to learn English right now. And my friend at the time – she's Norwegian, and we were living together. And every day, she helped me to learn a little bit of Swedish. Just enough for one class so that I could teach these families...
我說，“我不能教他們瑞典語”。聯合國方面說，“你就教他們英語吧”。可是我想，他們要去瑞典，他們現在不用學英語。當時我有個朋友，她是挪威人，我們住在一起。她每天都幫助我學習一些瑞典語。足夠我在當天的課上教那些家庭的。
A: Wait, wait.

B: ...some Swedish.
瑞典語。
A: You were teaching Swedish language?
你教瑞典語？
B: Yes.

A: You are an English speaker.
可是你的母語是英語。
B: Yes.
對。
A: You lived in Ecuador.
你當時在厄瓜多爾生活。
B: Yes.
對。
A: And a Norwegian person taught you Swedish.
一個挪威人教你瑞典語。
B: Yes.
對。
A: So you could teach Swedish to people from Ecuador.
所以你教厄瓜多爾人瑞典語。
B: From Colombia, currently living in Ecuador.
那些人來自哥倫比亞，他們當時住在厄瓜多爾。
A: So they could move to Sweden.
他們要搬去瑞典。
B: Yes.
對。
A: And you did this as a volunteer.
你志愿做這份工作。
B: Yeah. I wanted to help people. So I moved to Ecuador and I got a volunteer job with the United Nations to help teach people but I never thought I would be teaching Swedish.
對。我想幫助別人。所以我去厄瓜多爾做聯合國的志愿者，去幫助他人，我以前從來沒想過我會教瑞典語。
A: Wow.
哇哦。
B: Yeah. It was a lot of fun.

A: I would like to try that someday, too.
