A: Hello, this is Diego from Mexico.

A: Today we're going to talk about whether athletes make too much money or not.

今天我們要討論的問題是，運(yùn)動(dòng)員是否掙的太多。

B: So do you think they make too much money?

你認(rèn)為運(yùn)動(dòng)員掙錢太多嗎？

A: I don't know. I guess people in entertainment generally make too much money. We're talking about millions of dollars, a million dollar industry every year in advertising and all these things. But in a way if I think about artists like singers or musicians compared to athletes, I think athletes' earnings are more justified than general entertainment.

我不知道。一般來說，我認(rèn)為在娛樂業(yè)工作的人掙錢太多。我們這里指的是數(shù)百萬美元，這個(gè)行業(yè)每年的廣告費(fèi)和其他花費(fèi)可達(dá)100萬美元。但是從某種角度來說，如果將歌手或音樂家等藝術(shù)家同運(yùn)動(dòng)員相比，我認(rèn)為相比于一般性娛樂產(chǎn)業(yè)，運(yùn)動(dòng)員的收入更合理。

B: Really? Why?

A: Because the athletes in the industry, they're setting an example for people, especially kids to be healthier, to actually go out there and run around, play soccer, swimming, golf, anything. So they are actually encouraging society to be more healthy and proactive.

因?yàn)檫\(yùn)動(dòng)員在為其他人樹立榜樣，尤其是為孩子們樹立榜樣，讓他們變得更健康，去戶外參加各種運(yùn)動(dòng)，比如踢足球、游泳、打高爾夫等等?？梢哉f他們?cè)诠膭?lì)社會(huì)變得更健康、更積極。

B: I guess you're right but in my opinion people getting paid that much money just to run around and have fun, I don't know.

我認(rèn)為你是對(duì)的，不過在我看來，只是四處活動(dòng)和享受樂趣，就能掙這么多錢，我不太確定這是否合理。

A: Yeah, well I guess it's a bit more than just running around and having fun, like it actually takes a lot of dedication, time and effort to become a professional athlete.

嗯，我想不只是四處活動(dòng)和享受樂趣，要成為職業(yè)運(yùn)動(dòng)員，還需要很多熱情、時(shí)間和努力。

B: I guess so but it takes dedication and time to become a professional anything, so I don't know.

我也這樣認(rèn)為，不過無論在哪方面成為職業(yè)人士，都需要熱情和時(shí)間，所以我還是不太確定。
