　　M: Good morning. My name is Mary.

　　O: Good morning. Sit down, please. Would you mind if I ask you some questions?

　　M：Of course not.

　　O: What do you go to America for?

　　M: I'd like to study for my Master's Degree.

　　O: Will you get any kind of scholarship?

　　M: Yes. The school has provided me with a partial scholarship. And my father is ready to cover the rest expenses. Here is the bank account proof.

　　O: All right. Are you planning to work in America after graduation?

　　M: No, sir. I'm sure to come back to China as soon as I get my degree. Anyway it's my hometown. I think it's better to start up my own business in my familiar place than in other countries.

　　O: OK, we'll complete the formalities for your entry visa as soon as possible. We'll inform you at once.

　　M: Thank you very much.

　　1.此處用升調(diào)表示客氣。

　　2.Master's Degree 意為“碩士學(xué)位”。

　　3.partial scholarship 是指“部分獎學(xué)金”，full scholarship 是指“全額獎學(xué)金”。

　　4.start up 有“開辦”的意思，“start up one's business”意思是“創(chuàng)業(yè)”。

　　5.own/?un/與owe/?u/發(fā)音相近，不要混淆。

　　英語語音語調(diào)

　　升調(diào)表示客氣

　　What do you do the States for?是詢問句，要用升調(diào)表示客氣。Are you planning to work in America after graduation?是一般疑問句，也要用升調(diào)表示客氣。表示請求和詢問的方法和句式有很多，但相同的句式結(jié)尾用升調(diào)或降調(diào)，言外之意大不一樣。如：

　　I'd like some information about going abroad, please.

　　盡管此句是一個陳述句，但也用升調(diào)表示客氣。

　　What's your name?

　　如果要用降調(diào)，除非你是警察，而對方是個嫌疑犯。
