H: Good morning. Mrs. Bush. What are you going to do today?

B: I'd like some highlights. I heard highlighting is very popular now.

H: Sure. What color do you prefer?

B: Could you give me any suggestion?

H: Do you like red? But not too red.

B: No. thanks. not for a woman of my age.

H: How ab out light yellow?

B: Nope. It looks, to be honest, strange on me.

H: Your hair is dark, so the lighter color will be natural. Brown will look nice on you.

B: OK, up to you. How long will it take'?

H: About 3 hours.

B: So long a time!

H: But you will look much younger after 3 hours.

B: OK. My hair is getting dry and the ends split a lot recently.

H: Let me see.... Hmm, you should have a special steam treatment. It's free.

英語筆記

1.for 弱讀為/f?/，與后后的a連讀，中間加輔助音/r/，讀作/f? r?/。

2.light 的/t/與yellow 的/j/連讀為/t?/，light yellow 讀作/t? el?u/。

3.插入語位于句中不重讀。

4.up to you 是指“你決定”。

英語語音語調(diào)

插入語的語調(diào)

在英語中，插入語如to be honest,to tell the truth.by the way，in other words.I think generally speaking等，由于在句子中的位置不同，語調(diào)也不一樣。

1.插入語位于句首時，語義重要，需要重讀，如：

In other words.your plan is not available here.

也就是說，你的計劃在此處行不通。

in other words需要重讀。

By the way，how could I get there by bus?

順便問一句，我怎么乘公車過去?

by the way需要重讀。

2.插入語位于句中或句尾時不重讀，如：

This job.to tell the truth，is not an ideal one for you.

說實話，這份工作對你來說并不理想。

to tell the truth不重讀。

“What's the matter?”he asked.

“出什么事了?”他問道。

he asked不重讀。
