　　A: I’m so proud of Jodi Abbott! She was skydiving on her 70th birthday.

　　B: Wow! It takes a lot of guts to jump out of a plane, at any age.

　　B: 真棒!不管什么年紀，要跳下飛機都需要很大的勇氣。

　　A: I would have been too nervous to finish speaking after the audience expressed their disgust for my topic.

　　B: Me too, but John was as cool as a cucumber, and kept speaking.

　　A: 要是觀眾對我的話題表現(xiàn)出反感的話，我會緊張得講不下去。

　　B: 我也是，但John鎮(zhèn)靜得很，他還能講下去。

　　skydiving: 特技跳傘。

　　take a lot of guts: 很有勇氣，很喲膽量。guts，內(nèi)臟，比喻人的內(nèi)在本質(zhì)性格特征。

　　express: 表示，表現(xiàn)出。

　　disgust: 憎惡;憤慨;反感。

　　as cool as a cucumber: 形容人是極其鎮(zhèn)定的，非常冷靜的，情緒不會受到周圍環(huán)境的影響。cucumber，黃瓜。黃瓜在西方通常是冷吃的蔬菜，并且由于它的顏色是冷色調(diào)的綠色，因此cucumber被用來形容冷酷、鎮(zhèn)定的性格。
