    1. measured IQ: 智商測(cè)試得分。

    “測(cè)試”智商一般用measure或test來表示，所以測(cè)智商也可以說成是IQ test。這里的IQ是intelligence quotient的縮寫。

    除了IQ外，情商EQ（emotional quotient）也是衡量人的心智的一個(gè)重要方面。

    2. percentile: 百分位數(shù)。在學(xué)校中用來衡量學(xué)生的成績(jī)。

    A percentile ranking represents how well a student performs compared to other students in a nationwide norm sample for their grade. A student scoring at the 35th percentile scored as well as, or better than, 35 percent of students in the same grade in the norm group. It also means that 65 percent of the students exceeded this score.

    百分等級(jí)代表一名學(xué)生與其他學(xué)生相比成績(jī)的高低。如果一名學(xué)生得分為第35級(jí)，則表示他比同年級(jí)中35%的學(xué)生們表現(xiàn)要好，同時(shí)其表現(xiàn)遜于另外65%的學(xué)生。

    3. grade point average: （美國(guó)教育體制中學(xué)生在某一時(shí)期內(nèi)的）平均成績(jī)點(diǎn)數(shù)，也就是我們平時(shí)說的GPA。

    4. pass someone along: 甩開某人。這里的意思是“所有的學(xué)校都想甩掉他”。

    5. hand off: 把問題拋給別人，在球場(chǎng)上指手遞手傳球。

    例如：The center fumbled the handoff.（中鋒漏接了傳球。）

    6. take any empty seat: 隨便找個(gè)空位坐下。

    7. be Christian about: 對(duì)某人仁慈些。Christian在這里表示“基督教徒品行的；慈善的；仁慈的；友愛的”。

    8. take care of it: 處理好某事。

    例如：If you don't take care of the matter now, it will certainly come back to haunt you later.（如果你現(xiàn)在不把這件事情處理好，早晚還會(huì)是個(gè)問題。）
