燃！陳冠希紐約大學(xué)英文演講：金錢永遠(yuǎn)第二，熱愛才最重要
論壇在紐約大學(xué)(New York University)舉行。面對(duì)臺(tái)下的中國留學(xué)生，陳冠希以一個(gè)創(chuàng)業(yè)者和音樂人的身份告訴大家，金錢永遠(yuǎn)第二，熱愛才最重要。
陳冠希在演講中說，他出生在加拿大，但他告訴人們他是中國人。
他創(chuàng)辦自己的公司，要向世界證明，“中國制造”的質(zhì)量并不比世界其他任何地方的差。

用好產(chǎn)品證明"中國制造"
陳冠希在演講開頭講述了他在中國市場(chǎng)工作所獲得的一些經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
他首先指出人們對(duì)中國產(chǎn)品的普遍錯(cuò)誤想法：
I think one common mistake that a lot of people make is say "it's good for China, it's good for China".
我認(rèn)為很多人常犯的一個(gè)錯(cuò)誤是總說，“這個(gè)東西在中國算好的了。
其中一個(gè)典型是國產(chǎn)電影：
People watch a movie that's Chinese and they say "Oh, that was a good movie for a Chinese movie".
人們看了國產(chǎn)電影會(huì)說：“這部電影在中國電影里算好的了。”
For me that doesn't cut it. That doesn't make sense to me.
對(duì)我來說這不行，也說不通。
doesn't cut it: (口) 不夠好;不行
陳冠希認(rèn)為我們不能對(duì)國產(chǎn)電影降低標(biāo)準(zhǔn)：
A movie is a movie. It shouldn't be "because it's a Chinese movie, there's lower standard".
電影就是電影，不能因?yàn)樗菄a(chǎn)電影，就降低標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。
The level of quality of work does not differ in different countries.
工作質(zhì)量的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不該因國家的不同而改變。
陳冠希告訴在場(chǎng)的留學(xué)生們，他做事時(shí)不會(huì)考慮產(chǎn)品是否做給中國看，或者用所謂的“中國標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”來考慮好壞，因?yàn)?，我們不能?ldquo;中國制造”變成低標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的標(biāo)簽。
A lot of us may be already thinking that China is the next market, China is the next superpower. There's a lot money to be made there. Sure, but you cannot lose the integrity of what you do and what you represent for money.
很多人認(rèn)為中國是下一個(gè)巨大市場(chǎng)，是潛在的超級(jí)大國，在那里可以掙到很多錢。當(dāng)然，但是你不能為了錢而失去做人做事的品質(zhì)。
Everything has to be good on an international level and only then will we be able to stand proudly and say "this is Chinese made".
一切優(yōu)秀都需要在國際的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)下才行，只有這樣，我們才能充滿自信地稱“這是中國制造”。
隨后，陳冠希分享了自己創(chuàng)業(yè)初期令他十分惱火的一件事：
I remember something very, very, very, very alarming to me is when I said: "we're made in China." And everyone's like: "Oh my god, that's horrible."
我記得有件非常有警示作用的一件事，當(dāng)我說我們是中國制造時(shí)，所有人都驚呼“天啊，那也太糟糕了。”
對(duì)此，陳冠希表示不服。他用數(shù)十年的行動(dòng)維護(hù)了中國身份和中國產(chǎn)品的形象。
陳冠希自豪地稱自己是中國人，一切出發(fā)點(diǎn)都是中國。
I've been trying to be made in China, creatively designed in China. Everything is from a Chinese perspective.
我一直堅(jiān)持做中國制造、中國創(chuàng)造的產(chǎn)品。一切都是從中國視角出發(fā)的。
接下來，陳冠希舉了一個(gè)和耐克(Nike)談合作的例子，講述自己是如何維護(hù)“中國制造”形象的。
他第一次去耐克公司談生意時(shí)，告訴對(duì)方想合作生產(chǎn)一批鞋，而對(duì)方卻稱：“從未在香港做過產(chǎn)品。”
And I said "half of your shoes are made in China, what are you talking about."
我就說：“你們有一半的鞋都產(chǎn)自中國，你在開玩笑嗎?”
"How can you not give us a voice in the international market when you rely on our people to make half of your products?"
“依靠我們的人力生產(chǎn)你們市場(chǎng)上一半的產(chǎn)品，你們?cè)趺茨懿唤o我們?cè)捳Z權(quán)?”
陳冠希用了三年的時(shí)間向耐克證明了中國制造的質(zhì)量并不比別人差。直到十年后的今天， 陳冠希旗下的品牌仍在制造耐克鞋子，還與耐克簽了合約。
陳冠希為此付出了巨大的努力。他還用四個(gè)“非常”來強(qiáng)調(diào)這一艱辛歷程。
That's perseverance and that's a really, really, really, really hard work.
這是一種堅(jiān)韌不拔的精神，也是非常非常難的工作。
為此，陳冠希再次呼吁在座所有年輕人，要用高質(zhì)量的中國產(chǎn)品證明中國制造。
A good product will sell itself. It doesn't have to say (it was) made where.
一件好產(chǎn)品會(huì)自己證明自己，而無需強(qiáng)調(diào)它產(chǎn)自哪里。
The importance of all you guys is to understand that everything that we do, we should be doing it at an international level.
重要的是你們要明白我們做的一切，都要按照國際的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)去做。
金錢永遠(yuǎn)第二，熱愛才最重要
面對(duì)臺(tái)下的青年，陳冠希說，人們可能偶爾不理解你想表達(dá)的東西：
People might not understand what you’re talking about or what you’re thinking. But if you have a good idea, sooner or later, they’re gonna jump on and they’re gonna start giving you praise.
人們不一定會(huì)理解你所表達(dá)的，或者是你所想的事情。但如果你有一個(gè)好的想法，人們?cè)缤矶紩?huì)跟隨你的腳步，賞識(shí)你的想法。
他用嘻哈音樂(hip-hop music)做例子：
他說，他做了嘻哈音樂10到15年，而現(xiàn)在嘻哈在中國變得非常流行(super popular)。這也是他鍥而不舍(perseverance)，對(duì)他所做的事充滿信念的一個(gè)例子。
他還告訴年輕人，要跟隨自己的熱愛。金錢永遠(yuǎn)都排在第二位，熱愛才是最重要的。如果你只想著賺錢，那你十有八九會(huì)失敗。
It might be that all tech is really in right now and you’re like, “Oh, I’m gonna go to that market and try to make some money." Nine out of 10 times you will lose. Because you’re only trying to do it for finance.
現(xiàn)在有的科技領(lǐng)域是很火的，但如果你想要大賺一筆，那么十次有九次你都會(huì)失敗，因?yàn)槟阒皇菫榱隋X。
Finance is secondary, passion is first. Because if you have passion for something, no matter how hard it is, it’s all worth it.
金錢永遠(yuǎn)都排在第二位，熱愛才是最重要的。因?yàn)槿绻銦釔?，那么再多困難都是值得的。
陳冠希打了個(gè)比方說，如果你是因?yàn)殄X，或者父母的意愿而從事了某個(gè)工作，那么你每天早上起床照鏡子，都會(huì)覺得很沮喪。
If you go into an industry only because there is money or "my mother told me to go do it", I feel sorry for you. Because you’re gonna have a terrible life, and every day you wake up you’re gonna have to look at yourself in the mirror and you’re gonna be sad.
如果你因?yàn)殄X或者母親的意愿進(jìn)入某個(gè)領(lǐng)域，那我為你感到可悲。因?yàn)槟愕娜松鷮?huì)非常悲慘。你每天早上照鏡子，都會(huì)感到沮喪。
他告訴大家，要相信自己，相信夢(mèng)想。
Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams, and really find your own groove and stick to it, believe in it.
相信自己，相信夢(mèng)想。要找到你想做的事，相信它，堅(jiān)持下去。
最重要的事：?jiǎn)l(fā)年輕人
陳冠希非常耿直地說，他本來可以來講講拍電影或錄歌的事情，但他覺得那些都不重要。
I think what matters is to be able to inspire the next generation.
我覺得更重要的事，是能夠啟發(fā)下一代人。
因?yàn)橹袊絹碓綇?qiáng)大，下一代人就更加重要。
We are one of the largest nations. We're becoming more and more important on the international level. And what is most important is the next generation.
我們是世界上最大的國家之一，我們?cè)趪H上的地位越來越重要。所以最重要的就是這下一代人。
他說，目前中國還有這樣那樣不完美的地方。他總是盡可能地去嘗試改變，并影響下一代人一起努力。
A lot of people say, "Edison you can't change this." And I reply: "Yeah, but I'm gonna try."
很多人跟我說，“冠希你改變不了這個(gè)現(xiàn)狀。”我說：“是啊，但我還是要試試。”
And even if I don't succeed, if I've inspired this guy right there, and he is the next guy, then I've done my job.
就算我沒有成功，但如果我做的事啟發(fā)了面前這個(gè)人，后繼有人了，我就已經(jīng)完成任務(wù)了。
It doesn't have to happen in my lifetime. 這些改變不一定要在我的有生之年實(shí)現(xiàn)。
他相信，通過一代代人的努力，中國一定能再次屹立于世界之巔。
I believe one day we really will be the most influential and most powerful country in the world.
我相信總有一天我們的國家真的能成為世界上最強(qiáng)大、最有影響力的國家。
至于他自己，37歲的冠希覺得自己已經(jīng)老了……
I'm 37. I'm old. You guys are the young ones. So hopefully you guys can really follow your dreams, understand what the level of quality is and keep at it.
我已經(jīng)37歲了，我已經(jīng)老了。你們才是年輕一代。希望你們能真正追隨自己的夢(mèng)想，懂得什么是真正的品質(zhì)，并且一直保持下去。
In a few years, I'll be retired, and hopefully living on an island, sun tanning. And hopefully you guys can be the next ones to push the envelope.
過幾年，我就退休了，希望到時(shí)能生活在一個(gè)小島上，曬著日光浴。希望你們會(huì)是下一批挑戰(zhàn)極限的人們。

在演講的最后，他又再次強(qiáng)調(diào)自己中國人的身份，也告訴臺(tái)下的中國留學(xué)生們，記住自己是從哪里來的，能為自己的國家做些什么。
I'm Chinese. I was born in Canada, but I truly believe I'm Chinese. I may not speak the best Mandarin, but I definitely know my culture and my roots. Hopefully you guys will remember where you come from and what you represent, and what you can do to make our nation and our people better.
我是中國人。雖然我生在加拿大，但我真心認(rèn)為我是個(gè)中國人。雖然我的普通話不完美，但我清清楚楚地知道我的文化、我的根。希望你們也能記住自己是從哪里來的，代表的是哪個(gè)國家，以及你們能做些什么讓我們的國家和人民有更好的未來。
