Lindsay Lohan felt "strong" before she went to jail.
The 24-year-old actress - who has just been released from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, after serving just 13 days of a 90-day prison sentence - revealed she was going to draw on the beliefs instilled in her by her mother Dina in a magazine interview conducted less a week before she was incarcerated.
Talking to the September issue of America's Maxim magazine, she said: "I am feeling strong. I've experienced a lot in my life, and my mom has given me a lot of faith. This too shall pass."
Lindsay - who has now started her court-ordered 90-day stint in rehab at the UCLA Medical Center as part of her punishment for breaking her probation for a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) charge - also admitted she is looking forward to putting the turbulent last 12 months behind her.
She added: "It's been another year in a lifetime of living and learning. "You have to stay true to yourself always. At the end of the day, you have to look at yourself in the mirror and be content with the choices you've made, and will make, in your life. Go with your gut!"
