第十二課: 商務會談
Lesson 12: A meeting

各位聽眾朋友好，歡迎您收聽由澳大利亞的澳洲廣播電臺和維多利亞州多元文化成人教育中心AMES 共同為您編播制作的《商業(yè)英語教程》節(jié)目。我是澳廣中文部的節(jié)目主持人馬健媛。

在上一課中我們學習了如何主持會議，如何禮貌地打斷他人的講話，以及在別人打斷您的講話時應該如何應對。在今天的這一課中，我們要繼續(xù)學習同一段對話的下半部分，這部份的主要內(nèi)容是怎樣客氣地表達相同意見或不同意見。同時我們還要繼續(xù)從道格拉斯那里學習主持會議的秘訣。

以上就是我們這一課要學習的內(nèi)容，不過在學習新的課文之前，還是讓我們一起來復習一下上一課我們學過的內(nèi)容吧。請聽錄音。

Harvey: It’s Mrs Lee, Lian, who’s pushing to extend their distribution to Australia…

Victoria: Lok Lee just wants a holiday.

Douglas: Thanks, Victoria… Let’s hear Harvey out first.

Harvey: Their main purpose doesn’t seem to be for financial gain. Lian wants to expand to give her children more responsibility. She said they’re all ambitious and the business is too small for them as it is.

Douglas: So you’re saying that it’s family rather than money, that’s their main concern?

Harvey: It would seem so, primarily.

Douglas: Victoria, you have something to add?

Victoria: Yes. It’s their youngest son that Lian’s really worried about. He clashes with his older brother and he’s threatening to leave the estate for good.. Lian feels that if they go international, she’ll be giving him a chance to travel and keep him within the company…

Douglas: You’ve really done your homework, Victoria.

Victoria: Thank you, Douglas. I did some research on the weekend.

以上就是我們已經(jīng)學習過的內(nèi)容了?，F(xiàn)在讓我們一起開始學習這段對話的其余部份。請注意，這個由道格拉斯主持的會議現(xiàn)在還在進行當中，不過道格拉斯覺得現(xiàn)在是結束這個會議的時候了。

Douglas: We’re running a little over time. Can we move on? Harvey, what would be the best approach?

道格拉斯：我們的會議已經(jīng)有些超過預定時間了。請抓緊點時間。哈維請給我們介紹最好的展示方案。

Harvey: Well, they’ll want to know how we’ll present their product. There’s not enough time to produce an advertising layout, so  we’ve decided to show them what we did with Suki Tofu. Victoria and I have worked on an outline of how the presentation should go.
哈維：好吧。他們兩位希望了解我們會怎樣展示他們的產(chǎn)品?，F(xiàn)在已經(jīng)沒有足夠的時間來制作一個廣告的模板了，所以我們決定請他們看看我們?yōu)?ldquo;素喜豆腐”所做的推廣。維多利亞和我共同策劃了一個展示方案。

Victoria: There’s a copy for each of you.
維多利亞：這是給各位的復印件。

Caroline: Thank you.
卡羅琳：謝謝。

Caroline: So what equipment will you need for your presentation?
卡羅琳：那你們在展示時需要什么設備嗎？

Victoria: A laptop of course and we’re going to use IT-FX. (spelt out: I-T-F-X)
維多利亞：一臺手提電腦是必須的了，另外我們還要使用 ITFX。（發(fā)音為： I T F X ）

Douglas: Hmmm… Do you mind if I ask - what’s IT-FX?
道格拉斯：呣，，，我可否問一下什么是 I T F X？

Harvey: It’s the latest visual software, it turns graphics into 3D, almost  a hologram. Very impressive.

哈維：這是一種最新的電腦展示軟件，它可以將圖表轉(zhuǎn)換成三維圖形，近似于全息圖，令人印象深刻。

Douglas: Sounds good.
道格拉斯：聽起來很不錯。

好，新的課文就先聽到這里。在這部份的對話中，道格拉斯一開始就提醒參加會議的人要注意時間。他是這么說的。

Douglas: We’re running a little over time. Can we move on?
道格拉斯：我們的會議已經(jīng)有些超過預定時間了。請抓緊點時間。

除了道格拉斯使用的這個說法之外，我們還可以用下列的句型表達類似的意思。

We’re pretty short of time. Can we look at the next item?
我們的時間很緊張，可否進入到下一個議題？

That’s fifteen minutes on this. Shall we move on?
我們已經(jīng)對這個議題進行了十五分鐘的討論，現(xiàn)在可以討論下一個議題嗎？

現(xiàn)在請您跟著老師一起練習這些句型。

在這段對話中，道格拉斯不知道什么是 I T F X 軟件，所以他向哈維和維多利亞提出了這個問題。在現(xiàn)實生活中，有很多人出于面子的原因可能不太愿意在大庭廣眾之下提出問題，其實我認為在工作上與其裝懂，倒不如實事求是來得實在，您說對嗎？所以就讓我們跟著英語老師一起來練習一下如何就自己不懂的事情提出問題吧。我相信這些句型對您今后的工作一定會很有幫助的。

Could I ask a question?
What exactly do you mean by that?

Could you explain what that is?

第十二課:   商務會談
Lesson 12: A meeting

在這一課的對話中，公司老板道格拉斯就有關與洛克夫婦洽談生意的事情正在和他的三位下屬開會，在哈維簡要介紹了展示計劃之后，他的同事維多利亞表示自己還有一些話要說。

Victoria:   Can I say something here?
維多利亞：我可以再補充一些觀點嗎？

Douglas: Victoria.
道格拉斯：維多利亞，請說吧。

Victoria: I think that we should also indicate that Lian’s son will be invited to our national conferences. It might be a selling point.
維多利亞：我想我們應該表明會邀請麗安的兒子參加我們的全國性會議。這也許會是一個賣點。

Caroline: Yes, I agree, but perhaps don’t mention her son. That’s  privileged information, isn’t it?
卡羅琳：是，我同意。不過也許現(xiàn)在先不要談及她的兒子吧，這不是我們自己內(nèi)部得到的信息嗎？

Victoria: Good point. Thanks, I’ll just say, “your representative”.
維多利亞：你說得很對。謝謝。那我就簡單地說‘邀請你們公司的代表’好了。

Douglas: Well, everything seems to be under control. Harvey and Victoria, you’ll give the presentation. Caroline, will you be there?
道格拉斯：好吧，看起來每一件事情都在掌控之中了。哈維，維多利亞，演示的部份就交給你們了。卡羅琳，你會出席嗎？

Caroline: Yes.
卡羅琳：會的。

Douglas: I don’t see any need for me to come.
道格拉斯：我想我就不必到場了吧？

Harvey: Excuse me, Douglas, but I’m not so sure about that. I think your absence might be considered a slight. Especially if they notice you’re still in your office.
哈維：抱歉，道格拉斯。對于這一點我不太確定。我想你的缺席可能會被視為是對客人的怠慢，特別是如果他們知道你當時又在辦公室里的話。

Douglas:    You’ve got a point there, Harvey. We don’t want to cause offence. All right then. We seem to have covered everything. Thanks for your contributions. We can finish there.
道格拉斯：哈維，你的話有道理。我們可不想冒犯客人，那好吧。我們大概已經(jīng)討論了所有議題了吧？謝謝各位的意見，我們可以散會了。

在這部份的對話中，哈維和維多利亞分別就一些問題發(fā)表了自己的見解。他們是這樣開始自己的陳述的。

Victoria: I think that we should also indicate that Lian’s son will be invited to our national conferences.
維多利亞：我想我們應該表明會邀請麗安的兒子參加我們的全國性會議。

Harvey: I think your absence might be considered a slight.
哈維：我想你的缺席可能會被視為是對客人的怠慢。

您聽出來了嗎，哈維與維多利亞在開始表達自己的意見之前都使用了“ I think” 這個詞組，意思就是“ 我想，，我認為，，”。這是表達自己觀點時最常用的一種開場白。具有同樣功效的另外一個詞組就是 “ In my opinion” ，中文的意思是“以我的觀點看，，，”。好，現(xiàn)在就讓我們跟著老師一起來練習我們在全部認同他人觀點或部份認同時可以使用的一些句型。

Victoria:   Good point.
維多利亞：你說得很對。

Douglas:    You’ve got a point there, Harvey.
道格拉斯：哈維，你的話有道理

當你部份認同他人的觀點時，您可以這樣說。

Yes, I agree, but perhaps don’t mention her son.
是，我同意。不過也許現(xiàn)在先不要談及她的兒子吧。

I see what you’re saying but…
我理解你的意思，可是。。。

To a certain extent I agree…
從某種程度上來說，我同意。。。

現(xiàn)在請您跟著老師一起來練習。

I think you’re right.
In my opinion, it’s too late.
Good point.
You’ve got a point there.
Yes, I agree but perhaps...
I see what you’re saying but…
To a certain extent I agree…

現(xiàn)在再讓我們來聽聽當哈維不同意道格拉斯的意見時他又是怎么說的。

Harvey: Excuse me, Douglas, but I’m not so sure about that.
哈維：抱歉，道格拉斯。對于這一點我不太確定。

在這里，哈維首先以 Excuse me, 這個短語來開場，以此表示客氣，然后他就明確表示了自己的反對觀點。毫無疑問，這是一種非常禮貌的表示不認同對方觀點的方式。除了這個句型之外，您還可以使用下列短語：

I’m afraid I can’t agree.
我恐怕不能同意。

I’m against that because…
我反對，原因是，，，，

I can’t support that because.
我不能支持這一點，因為，，，，

好，讓我們跟著老師一起來練習一遍這些短語。

I’m against that because…
I can’t support that because.

該討論的問題都討論完了，道格拉斯覺得會議可以結束了，所以他說：

Douglas:    All right then. We seem to have covered everything. Thanks for your contributions. We can finish there.
道格拉斯：那好吧。我們大概已經(jīng)討論了所有的議題了吧？謝謝各位的意見，我們可以散會了。
