斐濟(jì)總理在上海世博會(huì)的電視致辭

To the Shanghai 2010 World Expo Committee of the People's Republic of China:
致2010年中國(guó)上海世博會(huì)：
Fiji is pleased to be associated withe the 2010 Shanghai Exposition, together with other nations in the Pacific. The 2010 Shanghai World Expo is a wonderful opportunity to explore and share valuable innovations, and experiences from the 227 participating countries in this grand gathering of world cultures. What the world is witnessing here today is without doubt a huge success, attracting at least 70 million visitors, and is a remarkable showcase of sights, smells, tastes, sounds, feel, and glamore from around the globe.
很高興斐濟(jì)可以和其他太平洋國(guó)家一同參加2010年上海世博會(huì)。2010年上海世界貿(mào)易博覽會(huì)將227個(gè)參加這次世界盛會(huì)的國(guó)家聚集在一起，相互交流各國(guó)的寶貴文化。世界正見證著今天這個(gè)吸引了全球七千多萬(wàn)訪客的盛大博覽活動(dòng)，這個(gè)以視覺、嗅覺、味覺、聽覺、感覺，來(lái)呈現(xiàn)各國(guó)文化魅力的展覽平臺(tái)。

Being the first exhibiton of its kind in the developing country, and producing an Expo of this magnitude, is indicative of the dedication, commitment and hard work of the government of the People's Republic of China, led by its national organizing committee. I express Fiji's appreciation and convey congratulations to the People's Republic of China's tireless efforts, to the preparatioin and success of this grand event. To the commissioner General of the Chinese government, the employees and staff we've worked tirelessly to pull this event together, are of the most sincere gratitude of my delegation, for your assistance and dedication. I congratulate your team, and I can assure you the Pacific Pavilion will offer our wishes and exceptional focus of our region. And Fiji's booths will be an experience in itself. I wish to also thank the Commissioner General of the Chinese government for their financial assistance. This is indeed an opportunity time for the world to see China. It is a fantastic chance for developing and strengthening ties of cooperation between the participating countries. Fiji is honored to be a part of such an event.
作為一個(gè)發(fā)展中國(guó)家，中國(guó)政府在籌備組織的帶領(lǐng)指導(dǎo)下，勇于奉獻(xiàn)，無(wú)謂辛勤的籌備這場(chǎng)如此宏偉規(guī)模的博覽會(huì)。在此，我謹(jǐn)代表斐濟(jì)，由衷地祝賀并預(yù)祝此次盛事的勝利舉行。向中國(guó)世博會(huì)的主辦機(jī)構(gòu)及辛勤努力的工作人員，表示最誠(chéng)摯的感謝。也借此機(jī)會(huì)衷心地祝賀這次活動(dòng)的主辦機(jī)構(gòu)，我們保證會(huì)盡最大努力配合完成此活動(dòng)。同時(shí)也向大力支持幫助籌備斐濟(jì)展臺(tái)，提供財(cái)政幫助的中國(guó)政府表示感謝。這是一個(gè)讓世界了解中國(guó)的有利時(shí)機(jī)，是為了能夠加強(qiáng)與發(fā)展各國(guó)之間友好關(guān)系的絕佳平臺(tái)，斐濟(jì)非常榮幸可以成為其中的一員。

The innovations and introductions of cross-cultural dialogues that we are privileged at this Expo optimize this year's theme - "Better City, Better Life". It signifies our quest to improve to better the society we live in. The display of scientific and technological development, and the quality of exhibition showcased its reflecting of the theme. It reminds us that we must not only provide our nations with basic needs, but also improve and enlist the indicidual life for our people in our respective cities.
這次博覽會(huì)的舉辦是為了讓國(guó)家之間相互交流文化與創(chuàng)新，正如此活動(dòng)的主題“城市，讓生活更美好”。科學(xué)、技術(shù)的發(fā)展有效的反映了此次博覽會(huì)的主題，并且提醒了我們?cè)谔峁┤祟惢拘枨蟮耐瑫r(shí)應(yīng)該確保城市生活水平的提高，豐富城市建設(shè)。

It is definitely a souce of pride for Fiji, and I'm sure for the other Pacific island nations, to participate in the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition. We'll also like to thank that we have contributed to the success of this Expo. I'm sure that the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition will live long in our memories. Best wishes in every success for Expo 2010. Thank you.
