Since it opened on May 1, the Shanghai World Expo has received 8 million tourists over the past month. Covering five square kilometers of area, this Expo has offered some unique attractions. Liu Yan has more.

These are tourists saying "I love the Shanghai World Expo" in German, English and Chinese.

As in previous events, the hottest attractions at this Expo are some of the national pavilions-the China Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, Saudi Arabia Pavilion, and the national pavilions of the United Kingdom and Germany.

Either attracted by their architectural style or unique exhibits, Expo-goers have consistently crowded these sites since the World Fair's opening.

Among them, the Saudi Arabia Pavilion stands out, leaving visitors with a deep impression.

Visitors queue outside the pavilion for at least three or four hours just to take in the ten-minute experience projected on its giant screen, one of the largest in the world.

Here, visitors can experience one of the highlights of the Expo, a "flight over the treasures of Saudi Arabia." Using immersion screen technology, the Arab country's most popular landscapes are projected on a 1,600-square-meter screen.

Visitors can experience the magnificent beauty of the kingdom, and see many of the country's natural and cultural treasures.

Mr. Qu is from Harbin in Northeast China.

"The Saudi Arabia Pavilion is amazing and impressive. It's full of imagination. The audio and visual effects produced on screen make you feel as if you are in a totally different world. Everybody loves it. It's very impressive, very cool."

Statistics show that 13 to 15 percent of visitors to the Expo have visited the Saudi Arabia Pavilion. Here's Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, executive director of the pavilion.

Another hot pavilion, the China Pavilion, attracts tens of thousands of visitors each day. Twenty-three-year-old David Wilkinson is a tourist from the United States.

Another hot attraction is the Expo's souvenir shop. When the Expo Garden opens at nine each morning, the shop becomes crowded with people buying keepsakes for themselves or gifts for friends.

Another thing most visitors like to do is get a stamp from each national pavilion they visit to keep as a souvenir.

This is the Angola Pavilion.

"We've given at least 1,000 stamps every day for the past month. Visitors love our seals very much."

Some national pavilions always have long lines of visitors waiting to get stamps on their Expo passports, maps and notebooks.

Wang Jiajun, a tourist, has more than a dozen stamps in his hand.

"I'll give them as souvenirs to my family and friends who can't come. The seniors in my family wanted to come but they couldn't make it. I got ten stamps today."

Another highlight is the performances staged at different locations in the Expo garden.

Li Jicheng is chief producer of entertainment programs at the Expo.

"Regular entertainment programs include 11 parades with floats featuring the natural scenery and cultural treasures of the five continents. Our musical shows feature local music and art forms, including the Shanghai dialect. One of the songs includes bells ringing on the Huangpu River, the major river in Shanghai."

The organizer says the goal is always to display the best of Shanghai and China to the world.
