在紐約上大學(xué)的Michael明天要考試，可是他的中國同學(xué)李華一定要他去參加一個(gè)聚會。李華今天學(xué)到的兩個(gè)常用語是：hit 和to roll。
L：Michael，你答應(yīng)跟我一起來參加聚會，我得謝謝你呀！你知道嗎，我不太習(xí)慣在這種場合和那些不認(rèn)識的人交談。 嗨， Michael，那不是你的朋友Steve嗎？我聽說，只要有party 他一定參加。
M：Yeah, he's the hit of all these parties.
L：他是什么？Hit？ Hit不是打人嗎？
M：No, "hit" here means he is the most popular person at these parties. "Hit" is a word used to describe someone or something that makes a favorable impression.
L：啊呀，英文可真難學(xué)。一個(gè)詞在這里是這個(gè)意思，在那里又變了意思。你說的hit是指大家都很喜歡的人。那hit用做這個(gè)意思的時(shí)候能指東西嗎？
M：Yeah, things can also be called a hit. For instance, you can say "that song is a hit with teenagers".
L：對了，有的歌曲非常熱門，這也能稱為hit。你剛才說：“That song is a hit with teeangers”， 意思是：“青少年特別喜歡的一首歌。” 這么說，“年輕人喜歡的一首歌”就是。。。
M：That song is a hit with young people.
L： 一個(gè)受歡迎的電視節(jié)目也能說是hit嗎？
M：Yes, you can! A hit TV program.
L：Michael， 我聽說好多女孩兒都很喜歡你！
M：No, that's not true!
L：我認(rèn)識的女孩都說你很帥！我想她們那么喜歡你，你恐怕還不知道自己是a hit with girls！

M：Okay, let's roll!
L：什么？ Let's roll？滾回去?。?/span>
M：Oh no, "let's roll" here means "let's leave!"
L：To roll也能表示要離開？
M：Yes, if you're doing one thing, you can say "to roll" when you want to start something new.
L：等等，讓我看看我是不是懂你的意思了。要是你在做一件事，過了一會兒，你不想繼續(xù)做下去，而是想做別的事了，這時(shí)你就可以說to roll。
M：That's correct.
L：怪不得上次開舞會的時(shí)候，我們班上的那個(gè)高個(gè)子George 對他的女朋友說：Let's roll！ 后來我聽說他們?nèi)タ措娪傲?。?dāng)時(shí)我還聽不懂let's roll是什么意思。
