Michael 和李華這兩個(gè)大學(xué)生，一個(gè)講英文，一個(gè)講中文，旁邊的人聽(tīng)起來(lái)很奇怪，可是他們倆已經(jīng)習(xí)慣了。今天他們來(lái)到中央公園，李華會(huì)學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)：pig out 和 bigmouth。

L: Michael, 感恩節(jié)你過(guò)得好嗎？

M: It was good to be with my family, but I was disappointed that you couldn't be there.

L: 我知道，跟家人在一起總是高興的事。謝謝你邀請(qǐng)我，但是我早就答應(yīng)了另一個(gè)朋友，所以沒(méi)法去你家，明年我一定去你家。

M: Ok, well. It was a great meal, we all pigged out.

L: 你們感恩節(jié)吃豬肉呀？我還以為感恩節(jié)都是吃火雞呢。

M: Yeah, most people do have turkey. Pig out means to eat a large amount of food, not that we actually ate pig.

L: 噢，pig out就是吃好多東西，不是指吃豬肉呀？

M: Yes, pigs eat a lot and that's where the expression pig out comes from. I did eat like a pig on Thanksgiving.

L: 我猜也是， pig out肯定是因?yàn)樨i吃好多東西而形成的常用語(yǔ)。 Michael，我看你呀，不僅是感恩節(jié)，你平時(shí)就吃好多。上星期，你每天晚上都吃得象頭豬一樣。

M: Um, I certainly did.

L: Pig out這個(gè)說(shuō)法只能指吃東西?。磕懿荒苡迷趧e的地方？

M: No, not really. But don't forget that when you use it in the past tense, pig out should be pigged out.

M: You will pig out during the Christmas holidays.

M: No, I'm saying you talk a lot about other people's business!

M: That makes you a bigmouth.

L: 我們女孩子都喜歡談?wù)搫e人。不過(guò)，Michael，我從來(lái)沒(méi)在書上看到過(guò)這個(gè)詞，是不是一般在口語(yǔ)里用？

M: Yes, it is usually used in informal speech.

L: Michael，我真不應(yīng)該那么多嘴，把 Josh和Emily準(zhǔn)備結(jié)婚的事告訴別人。

M: Well, don't worry about it. I tend to pig out and you're a bigmouth. Everyone has their faults.

M: Just don't be a person who eats like a pig and also is a bigmouth.
