Larry和李華正在開車去看朋友，可是在紐約皇后區(qū)迷了路。李華今天會(huì)學(xué)到兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)：make a u-ey和step on it。

LL: Uh, Li Hua, I think we are going the wrong way. I think we need to make a u-ey.

LH: 什么， 我們走錯(cuò)路了啦？要make a u-ey，那是什么意思啊?

LL: To make a u-ey is to take a u-turn. U-ey - U-EY. I think you can make a u-ey up at the light ahead

LH: 往回開是對(duì)的。但是，Larry，你沒(méi)看見在燈前面有不讓調(diào)頭的牌子嘛！

LL: Oh, you are right, Li Hua. We can't make a u-ey there. There is a "No U-turn" sign.

LH: 是啊，這里明明寫著“不許調(diào)頭”。

LL: Nice work! Now we should be headed in the right direction.

LH: 方向是對(duì)了，可是你千萬(wàn)不要大意，我可不想再u-ey 了。

LL: Uh...Li Hua, I have some bad news.

LH: 什么，又有什么壞消息？

LL: I think we passed the street we need to turn down again. I'm afraid we'll be making another u-ey after all!

LH: 你說(shuō)什么？我們又錯(cuò)過(guò)了該轉(zhuǎn)的路口？天啊，我們又得找地方調(diào)頭了。

LL: We are really running late now, Li Hua. We better step on it!

LH: Step on it? 你要踩什么？

LL: Step-STEP, step on the gas pedal. We need to hurry up and make this car go faster.

LH: 噢，step on it就是踩油門！我們是有點(diǎn)兒晚了，可是我不想 “step on it.”

LL: You don't have to speed, Li Hua. Just step on it a little bit. Just go a little faster.

LH: 我可以踩油門，再開快一點(diǎn)。不過(guò)安全也很重要呦！

LH: 就是嘛！(Siren sound) 喲，不好了，后面來(lái)了警車，要我停下來(lái)。

LH: Larry，都是你叫我step on it，你還有心思開玩笑？我把車停在路邊，讓我下車看看警察怎么說(shuō)。

LL: What did the police say? Did he give you a ticket?

LH: 我以為警察肯定會(huì)給我罰票。其實(shí)呀，警察覺得我們好象迷路了，問(wèn)我要不要幫忙。Larry，幸虧我沒(méi)有加速。不然我們就就慘了。

LL: That's great, but now we are even later than before. Let's step on it!

LH：還要讓我step on it! 你真是瘋啦？

今天李華學(xué)到了兩個(gè)常用語(yǔ)。一個(gè)是make a u-ey， 意思是開車的時(shí)候調(diào)頭往回開。李華學(xué)到的另一個(gè)常用語(yǔ)是step on it， 意思是踩油門，加快速度。
