寫(xiě)作后不能忽略的事：快速查找錯(cuò)誤

No matter how carefully we examine a text, it seems there's always one more little blunder waiting to be discovered.But these 10 tips should help you see (or hear) your errors before anybody else does.

不論檢查文章是有多仔細(xì)，總是還有其他未檢查出的錯(cuò)誤。這十條小技巧可以在別人發(fā)現(xiàn)之前幫助你發(fā)現(xiàn)錯(cuò)誤。

1.Give it a rest.適當(dāng)休息

If time allows, set your text aside for a few hours (or days) after you've finished composing, and thenproofread it with fresh eyes. Rather than remember the perfect paper you meant to write, you're more likely to see what you've actually written.

如果時(shí)間允許，在你完成作品之后將其放置一段時(shí)間(幾個(gè)小時(shí)或者幾天)，之后再對(duì)其進(jìn)行校對(duì)。這時(shí)你更能實(shí)際地看自己寫(xiě)的作品而不是沉浸在對(duì)自己作品的滿(mǎn)意之處。

Read through your text several times, concentrating first on sentence structures, then word choice, then spelling, and finally punctuation. As the saying goes, if you look for trouble, you're likely to find it.

3.Double-check facts, figures, and proper names.著重檢查事實(shí)，數(shù)據(jù)和名稱(chēng)

In addition to reviewing for correct spelling and usage, make sure that all the information in your text is accurate.

4.Review a hard copy.檢查打印稿

Print out your text and review it line by line: rereading your work in a different format may help you catch errors that you previously missed.

Or better yet, ask a friend or colleague to read it aloud. You may hear a problem that you haven't been able to see.

7.Trust your dictionary. 依靠你的字典

Your spellchecker can tell you only if a word is a word, not if it's the right word. For instance, if you're not sure whether sand is in a desert or a dessert, visit the dictionary.

8.Read your text backward.倒序閱讀文章

Another way to catch spelling errors is to read backward, from right to left, starting with the last word in your text. Doing this will help you focus on individual words rather than sentences.

另外一種檢查拼寫(xiě)的方法是倒序閱讀，從右到左，從文章最后一個(gè)單詞開(kāi)始。這樣做可以使你的注意力轉(zhuǎn)移到每個(gè)單詞上而不是句子。

9.Create your own proofreading checklist.制作自己的校對(duì)檢查清單

Keep a list of the types of mistakes you commonly make, and then refer to that list each time you proofread.

制作一個(gè)列表標(biāo)記常出現(xiàn)的錯(cuò)誤，并且每次校對(duì)的時(shí)候參考這個(gè)清單。

10.Ask for help.尋求幫助

Invite someone else to proofread your text after you have reviewed it. A new set of eyes may immediately spot errors that you've overlooked.
