Nowadays，with the spreading of the volunteer spirits，an increasing number of students take part in volunteer activities regularly and I'm no exception．I once participated in a community activity，whose theme was “Join together to accompany the empty nesters”．

We，all the volunteers，were divided into two groups on average，respectively responsible for entertainment and company．The entertainment group paid visits to those who were relatively more active or fond of various games but lacked partners．As a number of this group，I spent a whole day playing chess，cards with the elderly，writing calligraphies，singing and dancing，etc．We were sure that all these kinds of activities were good approaches．Meanwhile，the company group performed humbler gestures of kindness，such as combing hair，washing feet and chatting，to the elderly suffering loneliness and helplessness and eager for care and concern．In the end，I was so moved by the warm atmosphere among them that I couldn't wait to join the group，regardless of my tiredness after a day of entertainment，enjoying the silent intimate relationship with the elderly，happy，contented and proud of myself．

The aging of society is deepening so we must make joint efforts to spread love to the elderly in empty nest and help to build a more harmonious society．Through the service，we tried our best to fill the void in the empty nesters' hearts and eliminate their loneliness．They were likely to be reminded of their good old days．We hoped to bring new values of life to them．For us，volunteers，we were bound to share sorrows and joys with the elderly．The wisdom of life that we learnt from them certainly would have a profound effect on our future．Through the volunteer activity，the volunteer spirits further rooted in my mind，encouraging me to devote myself to serving society．
