Careful and Careless 

Careful and careless are as different as fire and water. But strangely, many scientists have both these qualities, that is, they are both careful and careless. Newton, the well known English scientist, is such a person. 

Once Newton invited a friend to dinner at home.
When they were ready to eat, Newton left to get a bottle of wine. But after his friend had waited for a long time, Newton still didn＇t come back. Finally his friend found Newton in his lab. The reason was that when Newton was going to get the bottle of wine, he suddenly had a new idea for the experiment he was doing, so he completely forgot his friend and the dinner. There was another time when Newton was leading a horse up a mountain holding the rein in his hand. While he was walking, he kept thinking of problems he had met in his studies. When he got to the top of the mountain, he found that the rein was not in his hand and the horse was gone. 

Many scientists are careless about how they live. This is because they are too careful in their studies.

細(xì)心與粗心，就像火與水一樣的不同。然而奇怪的是，許多科學(xué)家都有這方面的特點(diǎn)。換句話說，他們既粗心，也細(xì)心。英國著名的科學(xué)家牛頓，就是這樣一個(gè)人。 

曾經(jīng)有一次，牛頓邀請(qǐng)一位朋友到家吃飯。當(dāng)他們準(zhǔn)備好吃飯時(shí)，牛頓離開飯桌去拿一瓶酒?？墒撬笥训攘撕镁茫矝]有見牛頓出來。最后他朋友發(fā)現(xiàn)牛頓在實(shí)驗(yàn)室里。原來牛頓去拿酒時(shí)，突然對(duì)他正在做的實(shí)驗(yàn)產(chǎn)生了新的想法，因此，他把他朋友和飯全忘了。還有一次，牛頓趕著一匹馬上山，手里抓著韁繩。他邊走，邊想著他在研究中所遇到的問題。當(dāng)?shù)缴巾敃r(shí)，他發(fā)現(xiàn)韁繩已不在手里，馬也不見了。
許多科學(xué)家在生活中都很粗心。那是因?yàn)樗麄冊(cè)诠ぷ髦刑?xì)心了。
