Moreover, many people lack public morality and they throw garbage about, so that lakes and rivers are contaminated. What’s worse, farmers use a large amount of chemicals, which leads to the repeated incidents of food poisoning. If the situation goes on like this, we won’t have fresh air to breathe, pure water to drink, or nourishing food to eat.

　　It is because of the serious problems caused by it that different governments attach great importance on environmental pollution. Take Chinese government as an example, in 2001, the investment for environmental pollution treatment in the whole country hit110.66 billion yuan, 4.3 percent over the previous year. And the people talked openly about the government’s new measures against environmental pollution. On the whole, the tendency towards worsening environmental pollution has been arrested.
