Education Is Rewarding
This chart relates differences in weekly income to varying levels of education, from people with doctoral degrees ( average weekly income of $1,551) down to those without high school diplomas ( average of $451 weekly). It then provides the overall average income, regardless of degrees ( $797 weekly). Not surprisingly, a higher education increases one's income!
Obviously, the more knowledge one acquires and the more skills one develops, the highersalary one can eam. To me, the most interesting fact about this chart is the impact that therelative differences of the levels of education have on one's income. Completing a Bachelor's degree significantly increases one's average weekly income, about $400 beyond those with onlyhigh school diplomas. Completing a Master's raises one's income only about $200 higher thanthose with a Bachelofs degree, but completing a professional degree raises one's income over$600 beyond those holding Bachelor's degrees.
Clearly, those who go into fields requiring specialized skills receive the greatest financial reward for their labor. Therefore, if we want to make greater success financially in our future career, we should arm ourselves with more specialized skills.
