If given the choice, a great many people would change at least one aspect of their physical appearance. As is depicted in the drawing, a young lady is requesting a doctor to give her a straighter nose, bigger lips, and wider eyes. One option that has gained tremendous popularity in recent decades is plastic surgery, the branch of surgery dealing with re-shaping or reconstructing one's body parts.
Firstly, one's appearance is a natural blessing, but some people are unhappy with the looks they have been born with. They therefore decide to have cosmetic surgery in order to look more attractive to themselves and others. And some people have plastic surgery, not because they want it, but because other people demand it. There have been some reports of women demanding larger eyes so that their job prospects will be enhanced. Secondly, changing one's appearance by surgical means may bring short-term benefits but could lead to long-term problems as has been found with some silicon breast implants.
Although it is up to individuals as to whether they have cosmetic surgery or not, it does not come without risk. Changing one's external appearance does not guarantee inner happiness. After all, plastic beauty is only skin deep.
