As is shown in the drawing above, a beautiful young lady is flying a kite. We are informed that "Happiness looks extremely far away, yet in fact it is just in your hands and it depends on whether you can grasp it." The caption says, "What is happiness?"
Different people may define happiness differently. Recent studies have shown that there are two main types of happiness. There is happiness in terms of instant gratification, such as eating a piece of cake, which gives us a temporary rush of pleasure but has no real permanent meaning in our lives. The other kind of happiness is what we get from doing something meaningful such as helping others. Ideally we should have both types in our lives, but it is important to view happiness as a by-product rather than as an end product.
Happiness is never far away from our lives but true happiness is more often found in giving rather than in receiving.

1 A lonely heart tends to regard genuine love from other people as the greatest happiness, and a man confined to a wheelchair will have no other wish than to walk like a normal person.
2 An additional reason that makes it difficult for ordinary people to understand the true meaning of happiness lies in the subtle distinction between "taking" and "giving".
3 For some people, the thought of "taking" gives them a thrill, while many others insist that true happiness can only derive from generous "giving".
