Part Two: Dialogues
1.Shopping 購物
A: That dress is too expensive.
B: But it’s so pretty.
A: Yes, it is pretty, but it costs $200. What about this one? It’s almost the same, but it costs half as much.
B: It’s not the same. It’s completely different.
A: It’s just a little shorter.
B: I really like this one.
A: Well, it’s your money. You can spend it however you want.
Do you really think it’s pretty?
B: Yeah. It’s pretty.
A: 這衣服真貴。
B: 但是很漂亮呀。
A: 是很漂亮，但要200美元噢。這個(gè)怎么樣？款式幾乎一樣，但只要一半的價(jià)錢。

A: Let’s try to get out of the supermarket quickly.
B: Yeah. I hate spending all day in there, too.
A: What do we need? Let’s make a list.
B: We need milk, eggs, butter, coffee, vegetables, fruit, bread, cheese, and some snacks.
A: I want some pickles, oh, and we’re out of flour. Put that on the list, too.
B: Anything else?
A: Not that I can think of. Wait a second, we’re out of breakfast cereal. I think corn flakes are on sale. Get those.
B: No, you get those. I’ll go and get the fruits, vegetables, milk, butter, and eggs, you get the rest.
A: 我們快點(diǎn)離開超市吧。

B: Well, maybe we could get it now and hide it until his birthday.
A: Yeah, it’s a couple weeks away, and we don’t have anything yet.
B: Don’t buy him underwear again. He hates that.
A: I know, I know, but if I didn’t buy it for him, he’d never buy it.
B: See anything else we need there?
A: Well, all shoes are 20 percent off.
B: Shoes? You already have a closet full of shoes.
A: I know, but another pair can’t hurt.
B: Oh, all right. I need some new shirts, too. Let’s go after breakfast.

Part Four: Monologue
Bargaining is not common in the United States, but sales are. Stores offer discounts on their merchandise during sales. They hope to bring in more customers, and clear out merchandise that hasn’t sold by offering discounts. People watch for sales carefully to save money on things they need. Every store will offer a discount on it’s merchandise at some point, so it’s just a matter of waiting until the item you want goes on sale. The Going-Out-of-Business Sale is, perhaps, the sale where one can get the biggest discounts. When stores are closing for good, they try to get any price for their merchandise. This means you can often get discounts of up to 90%.
討價(jià)還價(jià)的情況在美國不多見，可是打折出售倒很普遍。商家在銷售期間給予貨品一些折扣。他們希望通過這樣可以吸引更多的顧客，同時(shí)清除未賣出的商品。留意商品打折的顧客會很仔細(xì)，以此在他們要買的商品上可以節(jié)省一些錢。每一家商鋪都會給與其商品一定數(shù)量的折扣，所以要等到你想要的商品打折只是時(shí)間的問題。“停業(yè)銷貨”可能是顧客可以獲得的最大的折扣。當(dāng)商家因?yàn)槔嬖蜿P(guān)門停業(yè)時(shí)，產(chǎn)品會以任何價(jià)格出售。這意味著你可以獲得低至1折的商品。
