It comes alone on the cold down.

獨(dú)下寒汀立。

Waterbirds are hard to get near;

鷗鷺苦難親，

Of arrows it oft stands in fear.

矰繳憂相逼。

Where in the vast sea of clouds can it go along?

云海茫茫無處歸，

Who’d hear in haste its plaintive song?
