Wang Guowei
Since ancient times, any major academic achiever has gone through these three progressions:
The First Progression
Last night, the west wind swept the trees of their green foliage,
When, alone, I ascended to the tall hermitage.
There, I searched the path to where it disappeared beyond the world’s edge.
The Second Progression
I never regret my clothes are getting loose,
For I’m eager to pine for you, in truth.
The Third Progression
After repeated failure to find you in the crowd,
Abruptly I turn around,
And there you are
Right in the waning light.
